When the driver first picked up the vehicle, the inspection was very thorough. He had a co-worker with him and both took a lot of pictures. The driver said he would let me know when he arrived because he wasn't sure if they had room. But he said he has another facility and he had no problem putting it there, but it was 30 minutes outside of the city. After he arrived, he said, “I've confirmed that we're just going to leave it here, 15 minutes from the airport. It’s secure.” I texted him when I landed and he said to come and get my car. The car was in the same condition. The final pricing was accurate, too. I was able to pick it up easily and there wasn't a hassle.

The personality of their staff was excellent. They managed my business from start to finish. They held my hand through the whole process. They were more than competitive against everybody we had looked at. There were absolutely no surprises. They quoted me a price and it was the price that I paid. The loaders were also very professional. They covered everything with a blanket. No damage to my freight or my house. All the glass has got there perfectly. They did a tremendous job. We had a fantastic experience. I couldn't ask for anything better.

The guy I spoke with at America First, Gavin, was super cool and not pushy like the other companies. He took the time to talk to me but I was at work at the time, so he was quick and efficient. He gave me a quote over the phone when everybody else was saying that they wanted to see my stuff. Gavin was super reliable, too. When there were a couple of hiccups during the move, I just called him and he explained the process. He was friendly and made it really easy.

But the crew that came out was three hours late. They called and said they were leaving a place in about half an hour and when I looked it up, it was about an hour away from where I was. I told them to just give me a heads-up when they were close. That way, I could make sure that my little dog and cat were away and put in the car. So, I sat there for hours and at 8:00 P.M., I called them to make sure they were still coming. They said they could still come if it was okay with me or they could come in the morning, but it would have to be super early. They said sorry and that they were stuck in traffic. It was a little weird but they got there at about 8:00 that night.

Other than that, when I was speaking with Gavin, he let me know that if I didn't want to package some things, they'd put the TV into a box or they'd do X, Y, and Z. He said it was all calculated in the estimate he was going to give me because I didn't have a whole lot of stuff. But I ended up packaging everything and the only thing that I needed help with was the bed frame where the T comes together. I needed an Allen wrench to loosen that and fold it up. When I told the movers about it, they were sad but they did it and they were polite.

In the end, all my stuff made it on time. My TV stand has a little crack in the top and they didn't put a mattress cover on my mattress, so my mattress has dust, spots, and dirt on it. When the movers came in, they told me they were going to cover everything. They wrapped the couch, the coffee table, and the TV stand. Then, they took one little moving blanket and put it over one side of the mattress, but they told me they were going to cover it with plastic to make sure. But then they just did the one little moving blanket over one corner. Also, it was in the contract that there was coverage up to a certain amount if anything was broken or not intact. But nobody really told me how to do that. It's not a big deal though. Stuff happens and I get it.

I ended up going with America First Moving Services because they were very upfront. They were very transparent about the price, and it didn't change. Once America First reached out, I stayed with the same rep the entire time. And once I got the rep on the phone, I went through my inventory. I was candid about what I had, and my measurements and sizes of everything, and my own inventory. I also sent them pictures so that everything was crystal clear for them. They sent it to their logistics department to make sure that the square footage on the truck was gonna be accurate.

After they did that, I got the email quote. Once I saw it and I saw the price point, I said, "Okay, let me go ahead and do it." So, I went ahead and signed all the documents. Everything was via DocuSign. So once I signed the document, I pay my deposit, which was easy and convenient. And after I paid the deposit, I got a call from logistics where they were able to put me on the schedule sooner than we anticipated. And from there, everything started happening.

The movers were there the next day. They called me 45 minutes before they got there. It was raining that day. They were very mindful, 'cause in my apartment I had white carpet. They put on little booties. And they were careful with my items. I appreciated that. The management, the customer service, the rep that I dealt with, everyone was phenomenal. They were helpful. So, it made for a pleasant experience. If I ever have to move cross-country again, I'm going back to them.

Like all companies, America First Moving was aggressive on getting my business. But when it all came down to it, they showed up, loaded everything up and delivered everything when I needed them to. So, they performed good in my book. The quote was determined on how much stuff we estimated that I was going to have. It was all calculated and had an estimated date that I was gonna need them for. They pressed for the 1/3 deposit to secure that rate. But all companies are that way. America First Moving seemed fair and didn't charge me any more than the contract that I signed. There were no other surprises so, it was fine. The crew were professional and did what I asked them to do. They did a good job and seemed to have some care in my stuff.

CAUTION * CAUTION * CAUTION. Today is 27 October 2023. I have been dealing with Jim **, Senior Moving Coordinator, America First Moving Services, Making Moving Great, for several days in an effort to obtain a quote. After days and numerous text messages, as well as emails, I decided to entertain this guy in an effort to determine if the information found in reviews on the BBB website were, in fact, accurate. To no surprise, they were.

In dealing with Jim, I discovered that he's a bodacious and skilled liar. He has zero identity with the truth. I shared with him the calculation of a quote from an associate transportation company after having received a ridiculously high bid from him. He tried to convince me that the price was for insurance, in spite of there being a breakdown of the charges in the ledger of the excerpt. What he didn't realize is that I am a retired government contracting officer representative, as well as having held positions as director of purchasing, asset management, alongside having a MBA in Corporate Banking and International Supply Chain Management.

Another means of deception is that this guy's actual name is Scott ** and not that of Jim **, as claimed. (He, inadvertently, sent me an email from his Gmail account is how I know this to be true.) After having been confronted, he disappeared and onto the next victim. If you were ever to encounter Jim, it is my opinion based on my personal experience that he has zero integrity, is as cunning as a fox, and lower than the belly of a snake. He's a liar, fast talker; shaker, hollow deal maker - be careful.

For the reasons mentioned above, I chose not to do business with them. There's a review by a gentleman from Michigan that speaks to the underlying problem with hidden fees. I would suggest that you read it in its entirety. People seldom get upset for no reason, but an assailant oftentimes re-victimize victims by obscuring the reality and substituting the facts with fiction. Keep in mind, one cannot be perpetrator and victim simultaneously; thus, America First Moving Services has chosen to perpetuate fraudulent practices onto its customers via unscrupulous means and practices, leaving only victims in its wake.

Do your homework, call carriers directly, and stop using outside brokers. You can shop for yourself. Insist on an on-site visit from the transportation company "BEFORE" signing a contract and ask for language that nullify any unilateral costs in addition to what is contracted and specified and/or adjustments to the agreement without mutual consent. On behalf of every consumer, I have filed complaints with the Texas Attorney General and the BBB. Unscrupulous businesses such as this must be identified, placed on notice, and held accountable by everyone because if you fail to do your part, you are a catalyst to every other unsuspecting victim that follows. Good Luck!

They delayed my move by 3 days and each day they retorted that they were on the way until very late that evening. They upcharged me by more than $800 on pick up. They broke items and lost/ style my electronics and other high dollar items!!! As the booking company they 3rd party booked me to Blue Lion for transport and deny any responsibility beyond taking my money. Their resolution is to send me a claim form and IF they cover my broken and stolen things is at 60 cent per pound and not related to the value of the items I've lost. No one cares there and I'm having mini breakdowns since trusting this company.

    Hi, Ciaunni

We are so sorry to hear that you feel this way. We can see that you were provided compensation due to the unforeseen delay in an attempt to remedy this inconvenience of the driver being slightly behind schedule to the estimated time of arrival. We can also see there were some slight applicable charges due to services we were unaware you needed based on the information provided during initial conversations at your time of booking.

It is always of the highest priority for us to transport your property as safely as possible and we sincerely apologize if your relocation did not go without incident. We have sent the appropriate claim forms to file for reimbursement, and again, we truly apologize for this.

Please do not use this company. Please do not use this company. Looks like the reviews are from employees and their friends to make them look better. Please review complaints about the moving company at the Better Business Bureau website. All the complaints are similar to mine and the company response is always they same. This company is a scam!

My elderly, disabled and recently widowed mother moved closer to me and my brother. She was moving 80 miles from one house to another. First time moving on her own and wanted to not inconvenience my brother and I so she found America’s 1st Moving. A gentleman came out and quoted her for a move. He stated that he was going to over estimate because he would rather her be owed money than her having to owe the company money. For 12 boxes (that she packed) 2-bedroom sets, an entry table, dining room hutch, dining room table (6 chairs) and a riding lawn mower (she paid upfront an extra $200 to move) she was quoted $3,220. She did not know this was high and signed the agreement. She paid $1300 for the deposit and agreed to pay $960 when they pick up her furniture and $960 when they delivered it.

Due to the short move and small number of items to be moved she was told the movers would be there between 8am-11am, pack up then drive to the new house and unload. Contract states they have 21 days to deliver. However, she was told during the estimate and from the office lady it would be one day - that is not the issue though.

The movers did not show until after 3pm. When they arrived, they did a walk through and went to their truck. They sat there for almost 1 hour. My mother went out and asked if everything was okay. She was told their boss was supposed to be calling her. The boss never did. She eventually called the company and spoke with a female. After back and forth the company said she had more to move and she owed them over $500 more dollars. If she did not pay they would not pick up her furniture and she would void contract, therefore she would not get her $1300 deposit back.

Back and forth they finally agreed to get her furniture without the extra charge. Movers started loading the truck. Come to find out - honest mistake…. She has 6 bookcases - only 2 were being moved. Movers assumed all 6 - so that explained the extra charge attempt. Once everything was loaded it was now dark outside. The company decided to send the movers to a hotel for the night and deliver furniture first thing in the morning.

My Mother drove 80 minutes to her new home for the evening and waited the next day. She called every hour for an update starting at 2pm. She was told by dispatch that the movers did not know when they would be there because dispatch sent them to another job. When they were done they would be at her house. Finally, the movers called at 4:30 pm and said they would be there between 5-7pm. Movers stated their truck broke down that morning and that is why they were not there in the morning, dispatch said they were on another job????

Movers arrived at her house around 8 pm and refused to unload the truck. Movers stated their boss told them not to unload the furniture until she paid them more money. The movers said she owed them another $575!!! When we pulled up the contract it showed where she paid $1300 deposit and owed $960 at pick up and $960 upon delivery. Where was the $575 from? No one could tell us. They just refused to unload the truck.

We ended up calling the police. The “boss” of the movers refused to call us - only email and text. He sent a copy of the contract showing an additional $575 being owed. This was not the original signed contract. This was a new never seen before contract that wasn’t signed. As we are showing the police officer the contracts and proof of payment the movers tried to leave. The police officer went outside and the movers were instructed to unload the truck or be charged with grand larceny. They agreed to take the $500 cash we offered, unload the truck and leave. They accepted and were advised if their boss told them to get more money he can take my mother to court and handle it in the morning.

The police remained while this happened. A police report was filed for our records. We got a paper copy of a handwritten receipt showing the money my mother paid and I recorded giving the movers the money and them counting it. I also recorded the verbal agreement of ALL the money they received from my mother. All in all, caused a lot of heartache and stress to a woman who just lost her husband, moving on her own and disabled. They also stole $500 from her. They tried to steal more. Please read all the comments on their review and ALL the Better Business Bureau complaints. The complaints are all very similar stories to my mom’s. They are scamming people and getting away with it.
