These plans are available for both new and used vehicles (most qualifying vehicles were made in 2000 or later). You can also customize your policy so you don’t pay for coverage you don’t need. American Dream Auto Protect’s service department is available 24/7 to answer questions and connect you with its network of ASE-certified mechanics.

What is American Dream Auto Protect?

American Dream Auto Protect is an auto warranty company offering three customizable levels of coverage for new and pre-owned vehicles. In the event of a covered breakdown, American Dream Auto Protect will work directly with a mechanic to ensure your vehicle gets the repairs it needs.

American Dream Auto Protect has a nationwide network of over 50,000 ASE-certified mechanics, and it offers 24/7 customer service.

How does American Dream Auto Protect work?

With American Dream Auto Protect, you have the ability to choose a plan from one of its three standard options or customize coverage to fit your needs. Its customer service team can help you navigate your options to find a plan that makes sense for you and your vehicle.

Once you’re enrolled in coverage, your vehicle is covered against certain breakdowns that result from regular use, based on the coverage you choose. That means, should a covered item break or malfunction, American Dream Auto Protect will pay to repair or replace it, as long as the cost falls within your coverage limit.

Once you call American Dream Auto Protect’s customer service department, they will connect you to one of the over 50,000 ASE-certified mechanics in the company’s network. You’ll need to pay a deductible, but otherwise the cost of repairing or replacing the broken component(s) is covered up to the limit listed in your contract. American Dream Auto Protect works directly with the mechanic shop for payment.

American Dream Auto Protect plans

American Dream Auto Protect offers three standard plan options (Silver, Gold and Platinum), plus the ability to customize coverage to your needs. You can see a breakdown of what each plan covers below.

All plans also include a cancellation option, a monthly payment plan, free towing/rental cars and a money-back guarantee.

How much does American Dream Auto Protect cost?

American Dream Auto Protect doesn’t publish prices for its auto warranty plans, but that’s not uncommon in the industry. To find out how much one of its extended auto warranties will cost you, you’ll have to fill out its online form for a free quote.

This form will require you to provide some personal information as well as your car’s:

  • Make
  • Model
  • Age
  • Mileage

Once you submit this form, one of American Dream Auto Protect’s representatives will reach out to you within 24 hours with pricing information.

It’s also worth mentioning that, at the time of publishing, American Dream Auto Protect offers discounts for covering multiple vehicles, and all plans include a free first month of service.

American Dream Auto Protect FAQ

What is American Dream Auto Protect’s coverage limit?

Extended auto warranty providers generally have two sets of coverage limits — limits defining which vehicles qualify for coverage and limits defining the company’s liability for repairs.

American Dream Auto Protect doesn’t provide specific limits on what sorts of vehicles it will cover, but it does say that most vehicles it covers are from the year 2000 or later. This is a few years older than what many warranty providers allow, so American Dream Auto Protect may be a good option if you’re looking to cover an older vehicle.

We reached out to American Dream Auto Protect for a sample contract, and under the terms of that contract:

  • The maximum payout for a single repair is the current trade-in value of your vehicle.
  • The maximum total payout for all repairs is either what you paid for the vehicle or whatever your vehicle’s trade-in value was at the time you purchased your plan — whichever is lower.

However, these details can differ on the actual contract you sign, so it’s smart to read your contract thoroughly and make sure you understand the limits of your coverage before you sign up.

Can I choose my own repair shop with American Dream Auto Protect?

When you have trouble with your vehicle, American Dream Auto Protect directs you to an ASE-certified mechanic from its network. According to the sample contract we read, you are also free to choose your own mechanic within this network, but this may differ in your contract, so be sure to read it thoroughly before signing.

What does American Dream Auto Protect cover?

American Dream Auto Protect’s most comprehensive plan (Platinum) covers your vehicle’s:

  • Engine
  • Transmission
  • Cooling system
  • Electrical system
  • Drive axle
  • Brakes
  • Fuel delivery system
  • Steering
  • Navigation/GPS
  • Air conditioning
  • Seals and gaskets
  • Suspension

All plans also include towing and rental car coverage.

Is an American Dream Auto Protect warranty transferable?

Most of American Dream Auto Protect’s contracts are transferable in the event you sell your vehicle to another person. However, it’s worth checking the terms of your contract to be sure before you sign.

Is American Dream Auto Protect worth it?

American Dream Auto Protect offers a range of coverage options and some helpful benefits, like towing, 24/7 customer service and a large network of mechanics. However, it doesn’t publish information on pricing or coverage limits on its website, so you have to work with a salesperson to learn those critical details. This can make comparison-shopping between companies more of a headache, but it might be worth it if the terms of your contract and price quote are to your liking.

I signed up with American Dream Auto for coverage on my 2012 Mercedes Benz E350, sedan. The guy I talked to, Anthony, was very nice. We worked it all out on the phone and it was no high pressure. I got their platinum coverage, which is their best coverage. I filed a claim about a month ago and the process was seamless. I took the car to the dealer to find out what was wrong with it and they told me what was wrong with it. I told them I had the warranty then they called the warranty company late in the afternoon. American Dream responded the next morning and have the authorization to do the repairs. The dealer then did the repairs and so far, I haven't heard back from them.

I had a $100 deductible, so I paid them the 100, and I assumed they got the other money from American Dream. The dealer also indicated to me that they thought it was pretty easy to deal with American Dream. I was pleased with my experience because that was a $775 repair of which I only paid $100 on. And I paid $2,800 for the policy. So, I'm going to keep a running total to see whether it was worth it or not. I don't put that many miles on the car and I may have another repair or I may not. But at least I know if I have a major repair, it's going to be covered.

The representatives were very professional and made sure that I understood exactly what the packages were and what they were offering. When I had questions, they were more than happy to ask. So, they were very customer-oriented and friendly. Compared to other vendors, American Dream had a fair price. I was getting quotes from about three different companies and it seemed like American Dream had the most coverage. I have a supercharger in my truck and American Dream is the only one that said it’s covered and it came back from their underwriters. They were nitpicky about what they wanted to touch on my truck because it's got a couple of custom parts. But when you look at what I got compared to what the board is putting out, they're identical. It seemed like they were up to cover quite a bit and made sure that they got all the information into my hands and that I had a card explaining the process.

The service is covering me for five years so I'm very happy about that because I bought a truck and Ford’s warranty was only gonna cover so much. I don't wanna be left out to dry here with a mechanical expense. This has been a one-owner truck and it's proving to be in excellent condition. But having that unknown and being able to get a repair policy like this is a relief. It's the last thing I have to worry about. If I have a breakdown, I just have a $125 deductible to pay and when it comes to mechanics and repairs, they can run thousands of dollars. So, it reduces my life stress a little bit. The worst drawback was the waiting period, which was 30 days but that went by quickly.

I was looking for the best coverage at the best price, and I also was careful about the reviews that I was looking at. It seemed like folks were happy with American Dream, so I talked to them, we negotiated, and they gave me a better deal than what they advertised, so I went for it. The payment was tricky because they wanted a credit card and I try not to use credit cards. I had to break it up between two debit cards. So, that was a bit of a pain, but it worked out.

I did get something in the mail going over the coverage, and there are some things that aren't covered that I didn't realize weren't covered when I talked to them. Part of that is to be expected because it was several pages of information. So, the biggest frustration for me with them is it's gonna be difficult for me to remember all my information. There's no account to log into as far as I know. It's all paper. So if I lose those papers, I would have to try to find their phone number again. There's no log-in information and there's no website that you can log into as far as I know.

My other problem is that it's still unclear, if I end up needing maintenance, there are several mechanics in town who don't do warranty work at all. They said I could send it to any AMA-certified mechanic, but that's not quite true because some of them won't deal with insurance or warranty companies. So, that was a bit of a bummer.

Today, February 16, 2023, I was researching extended auto protection coverage policies, according to Customer Affairs one of the companies listed was Car Shield. After signing up, I received the contracts. Once I reviewed the contracts, I immediately cancelled both contracts, the customer service experience was horrible, Ms. **, if that was her true name was extremely resistance and rude to me during the entire cancelation process. I had to repeat myself five separate times that I wanted to cancel both contract. After going back and forth, ** finally decided to cancel both contracts. What I experienced with Car Shield customer service was shocking and I made the right decision to cancel. Poor customer service, what's happens when you file a claim. According to the Better Business Bureau, Car Shield had a "F" rating and now I know why.

I contacted American Dream Auto, I spoke with Mr. John**, we discussed their program, the pros and cons, after our conversation, I decided to sign up. This is a con, American Dream wants the customer to pay the entire amount or in four separate installments. Many folks dont have $8,500 immediately available and then if you opt for the four installments, each payment is over $2,200 with taxes each month until paid in full. Pro is that the coverage is for 5 years. Now here is the unknown, John said a lot about their company's program, but the test is when you have to use the repair process. The million dollar question does it meet or expectations described to you by the sales representative, in my case John. I rated my experience as a four because I haven't experienced the company's overall performance.

Once I have experienced the process of my vehicle needing to be repaired under the contract. I will return and provide an update on the pros & cons on the repair process and if the sales pitch met or exceeded what I was actually told. Overall, John was pleasant, he explained the advantages of his company over their competitors. Yes, a heavy sales pitch and everything is handled within his company, nothing is handled by a third party. For examples, if a company provides extended auto coverage policies, does that company who sells the policy part of the company managing the repair claim, or just the third party selling the policy. According to John, from sales to repairs is managed within the company. I'm always skeptical of companies and individuals, who sale programs, policies, etc. Being honest isn't a trait shared by many in our society. The facts are in the end results, the success repair of my vehicle. More to come. Thanks.

There are not a lot of companies that would insure an expensive car like a Bentley. I was running out of time. I put in Google, “Who would ensure an extended warranty on a Bentley," and American Dream Auto Protect came up first. They have nice presentations so I called and got the warranty. The bill comes a month later on my American Express card and it was the same date and the same amount of money, $3,600. I thought there must have been a mistake and they double charged by accident.

I called American Dream Auto Protect because they had to process the payment as two charges. In the end, they didn't duplicate the charge. The only thing was, the guy I got wasn't very easy to talk to on the follow-up call. When he sold me the policy, he couldn't have been lovelier and more helpful. He was very thorough and he answered all the real pertinent questions without me even asking them. He really gave me the pros of going with that and it was covering everything you get concerned about, so the big ticket items. Also, it was nice that I had his direct line.

But when I called back, I couldn't get the guy to talk to me on the phone. It was like, “You got my money and now you're running.” I was a little put out. I made the mistake because they split the charge into two payments because they can't charge over $5,000. I was a little miffed that somebody would treat somebody like that after they just spent over $6,000 on an insurance policy on the car. I asked, “Is it five years or a 10-year policy?” It was like pulling teeth to find out anything. That guy needs to work on his follow-up.

My rep Anthony M was great and knowledgeable. He let me know what was covered. I did my payments in 4 installments. I needed this added protection for my Mercedes s63. I feel that anything that is covered will be paid for with no problems. Give these guys a try.

Excellent offer and follow up after shopping around. Agent sent me the offer and stuck to it. The agent accommodated my needs as far as start up date and was prompt in submitting all the paperwork necessary. The car covered was a 2021 Pacifica 65000 miles. The agent was John. Thank you.

We had a slow start but Richard gave me a deal and he showed me the other reviews and their reviews and I was sold, thank you! I will definitely recommend my family and friends to America Dream. They're very affordable and very good to have on a emergency and a engine giving out or a transmission it will be at least 3/4/5k and labor.

    Claims HandlingCoverage

    Reviewed Nov. 7, 2023

My experience has been okay so far. They offered me a longer coverage with a better deal and it covers bumper-to-bumper for six years. I also have roadside assistance, tire coverage that will replace one tire per year for the full term of six years, and a key fob if I lose it at least twice. I've only had to file one claim and it wasn't a covered claim but the agent treated me right over it. But there was a little mix-up with one of the agents. I called in one evening on my claim and the woman told me that I just needed to fill it out online and turn it in. But the next day, when I went to do that and tried to get ahold of them to tell them that it was being shipped up there, the agent told me that I was not supposed to do that. I was supposed to do something else and they talked me through it and stood behind it. It's fairly decent coverage and I'd recommend it to other people.

Clear understanding on how to implement the process for the use of the auto repair. Mr. ** answered all of the question that I ask. This I found to be very impressive.
