What is American Home Protect?
American Home Protect is a home warranty company that offers coverage for certain appliances and home systems. These include but aren't limited to your home’s heating system, refrigerator, air conditioning, washer, dryer and ceiling fans.
American Home Protect only has one plan: the Premiere Coverage Plan. However, you can add protection for things like spa equipment, swimming pools and garage door openers.
When a covered item breaks down, you can contact American Home Protect to have a local technician sent out. American Home Protect will cover the repair bill (up to any contractual limits), and if an appliance can't be repaired, it will be replaced.

American Home Protect is a good insurance company. If you're having house problems from wear and tear or any damages, you have the plan there. Over the years I've had the warranty, everything's been fine.

I had a fantastic experience with American Home Protect. It saved me a lot of heartache because we had to get our AC repaired, and we got most of that money back. It was a lot more streamlined than I thought it was gonna be. I haven't done it very often, so it was pretty good to have. It was quick and easy. When I did the claim, I had to contract my own person out to come do the repairs, and once I got the invoice, I sent it to American Home Protect. They reviewed it, and then got me my check within a week. Given the fact that we're almost on a check-to-check basis right now, and being able to have a major expense like that come through and only have to pay 200 instead of an entire 1,500 would be a win for anybody.

I tried to make a claim to American Home Protect but then I changed my mind because it was gonna take them too long to do it. My air conditioner messed up and they wanted me to get a diagnostic and have that sent in and then have somebody that they recommended come fix it, and then send them a bill when I had a guy who could come fix it the same day. He fixes air conditioners but he was doing mine on the side. So, there was gonna be no receipt. So, I just had him fix it and I paid it because it was 94 degrees when I got home in my house. I wasn't waiting two to three weeks to get this done. American Home Protect's customer service was good. It's just the guy I bought it from told me that the initial payment for the first month would be $199, and then I would only be charged $99 a month after that, but they're charging me $198 every month. I think they're overcharging me.

American Home Protect has been helpful. It's nice to know I'm not gonna be hit with some crazy charge if something breaks or malfunctioning and I need somebody to come look at it. It's nice to have that peace of mind knowing that I have my costs reasonably covered. I had one of the kitchen sink's hoses burst. So, they replaced the faucet on the kitchen sink. That was quick and efficient. Also, they helped me cover for a new hot water heater when it started to break. We had to pay an out-of-pocket for it. They would cover up to a certain amount but I paid the remainder. They were very helpful. And I've liked the plumbers and electricians that have come by. The handyman service is a new thing this year. They helped replace an outside light fixture for me. That went well.

The AC stopped working but I didn't know why so I contacted the insurance company. They said I should probably check in the AC area in the attic, which I did and I found out the pipe was clogged. American Home Protect sent someone out to fix it. I also had an issue with the dishwasher. The tube going from the actual dishwasher into the garbage disposal was too narrow so a lot of food particles were clogging it up. So, the dishwasher would leak. American Home Protect had a guy come out and make a repair, and that was good.
The garbage disposal itself stopped working so I didn't know what the problem was. I used the Allen key to turn the garbage disposal at the bottom. I did that a few times and it didn't fix the problem. When I turned it on, it would get caught and I could hear the motor buzzing as if it was turning, but it's not actually turning. The guy who tried to help me out over the phone sent me an email saying there's a button at the bottom that I need to push. Anyone with common sense would find that and I replied back that I’m not a plumber. Since then, I haven't had any problems with the home insurance or the warranty department.
I just came back from Kuwait about a year ago and American Home Protect informed me that a handyman service is one of the new services that they provide now. They'll cut the grass or they'll trim the hedges. But you have to call them and let them know you need the service and then they would send someone out. The rep said it's free once a year.

American Home Protect has been very cooperative about anything that we needed. The outlets that my microwave was plugged into got overloaded. The rep said, "It would take a few days or a few weeks to get somebody to work underneath them. Find somebody that can get it done as quick as possible and send us an invoice, and then you'll make your money back." After all that was done, we only had to pay the 65. And we got the rest of our remaining money back. Easy, quick, great customer service. The tech was honest with me. He showed me pictures, told me what was going on. They were easy to work with as well. We ran through a couple of issues with our bank through some stupid crap. American Home Protect worked with us and they were super sweet. We got it fixed.

I called American Home Protect and told them I wanted to become a member. The reps were good. The coverage I was looking for was what I got. It's working out as a good deal. What they offer for what the price is, you can't go wrong.

When I call, the contractors come out. It's three days if it's a weekend but they usually come out pretty good. They keep me posted when the person comes and does the work. They come out, do the work and take the trash with them. It'd be perfect if American Home Protect could bring the price down to at least $200.

The American Home Protect rep was really nice. The cost was higher with American Home Protect, but he was telling me that the other company was just new and they're not a good policy. So, that was why I kept American Home Protect.

When I was going to renew my previous home warranty, American Home Protect gave me a better price so I went with them. Everything went pretty smoothly during the signup. The agent that I got was very informative and sent everything to my email right away. They're a little bit more accessible than the warranty I had and everything's been pretty good so far.

American Home Protect is excellent. This is my second year with them, and I have no complaints. Their price very competitive too. I had three instances where I had to file a claim, and it was very easy. All I had to do was stay out of the way. The American Home Protect reps are always cordial. They make sure I get to the right department depending on what my problem is in my home, and they always send commercial repair people, names that I'm familiar with. They've always sent me the same company, so they're always letting me know what they repaired and why it needed to be repaired. If there was a 30- or 90-day warranty on it, they’d tell me. It doesn't get much better than that.

I had to put in a claim for someone to come by to fix the light bulb in my kitchen. But they never came. So I was very disappointed. American Home Protect said, "Oh, we already have it. We have it. And they're supposed to call you." But I have not gotten a phone call from them yet. So I don't have any electricity in that area.
When I would call for a work order, American Home Protect would tell me they would send somebody. They would send me somebody but it would be a couple of weeks later. The cherry on that frosting was it was summer and the air conditioner went out. They were sending out people, but they couldn't fix the air conditioner. That was a little bit frustrating. Some of the parts were not in stock anymore and the tech told this to American Home Protect. Long story short, it got so bad that they ended up having to put a whole new system in. But it took three months. We had to buy window air conditioners for three months because they couldn't get it together.
When we first got American Home Protect, I had a problem with our microwave. The guy came in and fixed it. So I was excited about it. It wasn't as elaborate or as expensive as an air conditioning claim. But for me, to get something done on the same day and fixed and to this day I don't have any problems was exciting. I was just very disappointed with the electrical claim.
We're paying the monthly fees for this service and it's hard to trust when you can't get any response. When I call in a claim, I usually get a customer service representative. She knows my address because that's part of the information that's already in the system. She asked me, “What's going on?” I usually ask her, "Is this part of my protection plan?" She says it is and that I have the deluxe plan. Then she'll give me a customer number. But the last two times that I called American Home Protect to tell them, "Hey, I haven't gotten anybody here." They told me that they have the claim number and that they were sending somebody out. Then the second time, "Well, we'll send somebody else." But I'm still waiting and we're almost at the end of September.
