About AUL Corp

AUL Corp. provides vehicle service contracts to help drivers with the cost of unexpected repairs. AUL Corp.’s service contracts are effective on the day of purchase, and you can get same-day payment on claims. AUL offers warranties for a variety of vehicles, regardless of year or mileage.

    Pros & Cons

    Pros

    • Covers new and used cars
    • Available in every state
    • Several deductible options

    Cons

    • Most VSCs can only transfer once
    • No pricing on website

    Bottom Line

AUL Corp. offers a wide range of policies, but it doesn’t sell directly to consumers, so you can only buy through a dealership. AUL doesn’t handle payments either, so you’ll have to deal with your lien holder.

    AUL warranty coverage

AUL Corp. covers both new and used cars, and it advertises an option for any year and any mileage. Roadside assistance benefits from AUL Corp. include fuel delivery, lockout assistance, towing, jump-starts and tire changes.

If you’re covered and you need a repair, you have to take your vehicle back to the selling dealer, assuming you live within 60 miles and they have a repair facility. The dealer then diagnoses the issue and contacts AUL. If you don’t live close enough or your dealer doesn’t make repairs, you can go to any licensed repair facility.

    AUL warranty cost

AUL Corp. doesn’t provide prices on its website, which is common among companies offering extended auto warranties. The cost of an extended auto warranty will vary based on the make, model, mileage and age of your vehicle.

When submitting a claim on a covered item, the only thing you have to pay is your deductible. AUL Corp. says that most claims are paid within two hours.

AUL Corp. has various deductible options that range from $0 to $100. The company also has a “disappearing deductible” option. This means that the longer you go without making a claim, the lower your deductible goes.

    AUL Corp. FAQ

    Who accepts AUL warranty?

AUL plans cover repairs at any licensed facility in the United States or Canada. However, you may be required to go to the dealership you got the warranty from first.

    Are AUL car warranties transferable?

Most AUL car warranties are transferable, but they may only be transferable once. To find out whether yours is transferable, refer to your contract or contact the company.

    What is AUL’s cancellation policy?

Most AUL policies are cancelable. Specific cancellation details can depend on your contract. A cancellation form must be signed by you and the dealer and submitted to the company. You’ll also need an affidavit with the vehicle’s true mileage reading at the time of the request.

How do I file a claim with AUL Corp?

To file a claim, you need to get your vehicle to your selling dealer, provided you live within 60 miles of them and they have a repair center. From there, the dealer diagnoses the issue and contacts AUL with an estimate. If you don’t live within 60 miles of the selling dealer, you can take it to any licensed repair facility.

    Is an AUL warranty good?

AUL Corp. is a solid option for an extended auto warranty. It has multiple plans available for an array of vehicles. Plus, vanishing deductibles reward those who don’t use their extended auto warranty often to make claims. AUL Corp. products are available in every state, so it may be worth contacting the company for a quote.

It is disheartening that so many auto dealers provide this horrible company to provide extended warranties. If your car has a problem, nobody will answer the phone. I've spent multiple one hour sessions on hold trying to reach someone. Finally after reaching someone, I was informed the warranty did not cover broken head gaskets. The text in the service contract to exclude this is very unspecific as to hide when it when purchasing a warranty.

AUL will not pick up the phone to pre-authorize claims and will reject payment if repairs are made prior to pre-authorization. It's fine print in section 3 of a lengthy contract full of "outs" to screw over their clients. Of course the premium is collected in full up front as well. Run from this company... they are manipulators of contract language to do anything they can to not advocate their clients!!!

I bought my 2013 Dodge Ram back in November 2022 and got the extended warranty. I just took my truck in for the 150,000 mile maintenance and it turns out it needs $9k in Drive train repairs. AUL will not cover the repairs "because of rust and corrosion". Are you kidding me. Why even have the warranty on a used vehicle. Do they not know it is "used". It is not a brand new vehicle and I live in Washington state. I can not stop rust and corrosion. I am beyond upset.

I purchased a used 2018 Jeep Compass from Fox Automotive Group in December 2022. At the time of purchase I was offered an option to purchase an extended warranty, The Reserve Warranty and told it was a bumper to bumper 20,000 mile warranty through AUL. Given that the vehicle had higher miles I purchased the warranty for just under $3000. After 6 months and taking the vehicle to 2 different dealerships for scheduled oil maintenances, my vehicle suffered a transmission failure/issue. I took the vehicle to the dealership to be diagnosed and repaired. The cause of failure was the PTU, which is a sealed compartment. At first inspection it was stated that there was a leak and that was reported on the claim, which AUL immediately denied stating “lack of maintenance” on my part. Upon further investigation the dealership then stated that it was not leaking fluid but the part failed and therefore the part lost fluid.

I asked the dealership to call AUL and re-explain the new findings/diagnosis. AUL then requested a “tear down” of the unit so they could send an adjuster out to look. Once the adjuster looked at the part they told the dealership there were metal shavings in the unit and left. Again AUL stated the claim is not covered. I called AUL on a 3 way call with the service advisor from the dealership trying to get things resolved. I questioned and argued that if the PTU was truly leaking, why was there no evidence of the leaking, why were there no signs of something going wrong, how could 2 different dealerships not notice any evidence of a leak, and was pretty much told “I don’t know”. The person then informed me that this conversation can continue to go round and round but end of story the claim is denied, and there was nothing further that could be done.

SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! I would leave a negative stars if I could! Absolute worst warranty company! They expect you to go without a car for months and won’t pay for anything even with all the proof they ask for. Also no one in the call center is trained properly. All have different answers and give out wrong information. Can’t ever get a manager on the phone unless they're short staffed then by chance you might have one answer when you call in and then they're just beyond rude and snarky! Pay $3600 for a warranty to do nothing. Just a waste of money. Don’t even bother!

I have a contract that was sold to me by Greg May Honda. The repair shop called AUL Corp and they said that I did not have a contract. I emailed them the contract and they wanted my bill of sale for the car. I bought the service contract for $3,195.00 and they will not honor the contract. I either need them to repair my car or refund me the $3195.00.

After my car breaking down due to a oil filter housing breaking my claim was denied due to lack of lubrication. They blamed the repair shop for saying it was a long term leak and lack of lubrication when the repair shop never said that. AUL told me that I can appeal this and have the shop perform further diagnosis and then they would send an appraiser out to review. Which we all know it will still be denied. So then I will be stuck paying all of the fees. I told the manager from AUL that this is how it works, you need to protect your assets and I'm trying to protect mine. People buy these warranties so it's there when we need it and they end up screwing us over. The manager was very nice and just doing her job I get that. She probably made her quota for having more denied cases putting more money on their bottom line. No more warranties for me, I would rather pay out of pocket.

My claim was denied due to signs of my van overheating. AUL repeatedly blamed me for continuing to drive the car with leaky water pump to which there was no visible evidence how long this had been going on. Subsequent damages because of it are NOT covered. Repeatedly threw Section 8 in my face, "WHAT IS NOT COVERED, subsection F(b). which states, "Any MECHANICAL BREAKDOWN or FAILURE caused by (b) overheating, regardless of the cause of overheating or resulting from contamination or inadequate amounts of coolant, lubricants, or fluids." Mind you, I only drove it to two shops to get the engine light looked at.

When I asked for the inspection report, I was told that I needed to have a court ordered subpoena. With the engine apart they denied my claim for a new one however, AUL said they would cover the water pump. Cost for me would have been another $2000 to put the engine back together so they could process the water pump claim. Again the simple fact that a certain part (water pump) failing meant nothing in regards to my claim. Their stance centered on continued operation, and signs of overheating of this vehicle. Never mind that there was nothing indicating that I should stop driving it to the shop to troubleshoot engine light.

I am a reasonable person and without a doubt, know how and when to accept responsibility for my actions. I strongly believe this was NOT my fault as AUL continually made me feel so it is. Things are not always black and white. Section 8 is a cop out mechanism for AUL to take money, and deny claims from good, honest , hard working, citizens such as myself. Stay from this company at all costs. If you're already a customer cancel them immediately. At least I was able to recoup $1100 with my cancellation.

If you are looking for an extended warranty company, don’t come to AUL. They won’t fix anything, and blame their customers for problems they didn’t cause. Our van broke down in the middle of the road a few weeks ago, needs a new transmission and they claim we “knew” about a leak and drove on it anyway. No check engine light came on, just a bunch of fluid and smoke coming out of the hood. They claim we drove on it, & it overheated, which is an exclusion in the contract. Anything to worm their way out of paying. Shop elsewhere if something major such as the transmission goes out and you need repairs. They won’t pay a dime. Customer is always right, right? Wrong with this company.
