About CARCHEX

CARCHEX helps you purchase and maintain your car by offering various vehicle products, including extended auto warranties. Rather than offering its own plans, CARCHEX works with multiple third-party warranty providers. These vehicle service contracts cover repairs due to mechanical failures or malfunctions but not collisions. Plans also come with additional benefits like roadside assistance and towing.

    CARCHEX warranty cost

The average price of a five-year contract with CARCHEX is about $1,500. Expect to pay approximately 2 cents per mile of coverage. However, costs vary based on your vehicle’s mileage, year, make and model. The best way to get a better idea of your cost is to get a quote directly from CARCHEX.

CARCHEX lets you pay for your extended warranty over a maximum of 24 months. No down payment is required during this period. CARCHEX accepts all major credit cards, and it has a 30-day, money-back guarantee in case you decide CARCHEX isn’t right for you.

    CARCHEX plans

CARCHEX offers five coverage levels that span 16 different warranty plans from different providers.

Plan nameType of coverageTerm lengthsIdeal for
    Titanium CoverageBumper-to-bumper7 – 10 yearsComprehensive coverage
    Platinum CoverageStated-component5 – 10 yearsShort-term coverage
    Gold CoverageComprehensive5 – 10 yearsVehicles with over 60,000 miles
    Silver CoverageEssential5 – 10 yearsBasic coverage
    Bronze CoverageMajor systems5 – 6 yearsAffordability

Every CARCHEX warranty is, at a minimum, a powertrain warranty. This means that your vehicle’s transmission, drive axle(s) and engine are covered along with the other components that send power to the wheels.

    CARCHEX coverage

CARCHEX’s coverage is available for vehicles with up to 250,000 miles. This coverage kicks in after a waiting period of 30 days and 1,000 miles, but this is a fairly standard requirement among extended auto warranty providers. Once you’re past the waiting period, CARCHEX covers authorized vehicle repairs made at licensed service facilities. You can use its mobile app or website to find a vehicle repair facility near you.

All of CARCHEX’s plans are transferable, and coverage is available in California, which isn't true of many warranty providers. However, not every warranty is renewable.

    Additional benefits from CARCHEX include:

    • Towing
    • Vehicle lockout services
    • Rental car coverage
    • Roadside assistance
    • Emergency fuel delivery

You can also opt for emissions coverage, key fob protection and luxury electronics coverage.

A CARCHEX auto warranty won’t cover everything, though. Modified or aftermarket components aren’t covered, including lift kits or trailer hitches. CARCHEX also doesn’t cover regular maintenance items like oil changes or consumable parts like tires, wiper blades and spark plugs. Check your vehicle service contract for details.

There was an ad on Facebook for CARCHEX and I clicked on it. They didn't call me and aggravate me with a bunch of promotional calls. There's this one company that is a very prominent name and they aggravate people so badly with calls that I decided a long time ago I wouldn't buy their product if it was the only one on earth. I called the CARCHEX phone number and was connected to someone who was very helpful.

In receiving my written contract, I sometimes scratched my head as I sat here last night and read through that. I'm beginning to wonder what is covered under that contract and what will I actually get in the event that my car does have serious issues. One other thing that I had to read two or three times was the fact that it's so many months or so many miles before the contract ever kicks in. The other part that I question and wonder about is having to have everything approved ahead of time before I can have any work done on my car. But I would have to take the car to a garage first before I know what's wrong with it and then I gotta make phone calls and get somebody on the other end to understand what they're talking about. I'm not sure how helpful this policy is gonna be but I'm gonna try it for a while and see how it goes with it.

I hope I'm not just throwing money away for no service when the time comes. My car is the very first one I ever had and I was in my 70s when I bought it. I'm now in my second year of being 80 and there are no issues with my car. I don't expect or anticipate any. But in the event that something does happen, it's a good idea to carry that CARCHEX contract. So far, I've only been in contact with one person. The lady I talked to was very nice. I got a phone call the other day wondering if I actually had agreed to have that payment put on my credit card. I agreed to a one-time payment.

I decided to check into CARCHEX and my experience was good with a fellow I spoke with. He clearly explained everything to me. I went back over it. And what I didn't understand, he re-explained. He was very patient. So, I decided to go ahead and sign up with him. He explained to me all of it that were perks. We came to a dollar amount arrangement and that helped to seal the deal. Perks are very important. People wanna see what they get for their money and that made it even more enticing for me to go ahead and select CARCHEX.

He had to go over both packages. I was interested in knowing what was covered. I am not well-versed in all the mechanics of a car, but I listened carefully about what I wanted and I wanted the best protection for my car. That's how we arrived at my package. It was much easier than I thought it would be. And he made it simple and said, "And if you have any questions at all, you can contact us about anything." So, I felt rest assured that I was in good hands, that my car was protected and I had the peace of mind I needed and I just had to pay my monthly fee.

The setup was easy, the information was comprehensive, that I had a clear understanding of what I was paying for and what I was getting for my money. And that if they wanted to have somebody, until they prove you wrong by their actions in not fulfilling the agreement, you can trust them. Until they prove me wrong, I'm okay with making my monthly payments.

I went online and checked Carchex, and I talked to the guy. I was impressed with the coverage and everything they had to offer. The deductible was $200 and I said I couldn’t do that because Endurance was giving me a $100 deductible. And the guy from Carchex said they could do the same thing. I told him to do it and not to screw me with another $100 from the beginning knowing well that Endurance was gonna give me that. So with my being a disabled veteran, I got a discount from them. The guy said he would send me a package and I asked if that was a problem. He said no. Carchex shouldn’t give me a hard time with getting my package in because Endurance did that to my buddy. It took him almost three weeks to get the package.

Other agents from Carchex kept on calling me and I told them they needed to get themselves together. The agents are not communicating or they're not checking the computer that I already bought a policy. The first guy was trying to get me to do multiple cars and I said I still have a warranty on my truck. I'm not gonna do anything on my truck until my warranty has expired. So I'm just waiting. This guy was trying to pressure selling me that way and I told him not to do that. I'm not gonna deal with him until December when my truck is paid off. So then, I had this other money that I could work with. Today, this other guy calls me from CARCHEX, trying to talk me into getting that extended warranty on my truck. I said I already talked to Oscar and I already told him my situation. I said he should not bother me anymore or I'll forget about going with Carchex on my extended warranty on my truck.

The CARCHEX rep and I were on the telephone for an hour, which was a very long time. I had a lot of questions. And there was a big push to get me to hurry up and agree to it and close the deal. They were going for the fast close. I asked questions about, "Was this commission based?" I know what the gig is, so I wouldn't feel pressured to rush myself through the process. I was very thoughtful as we worked our way through it.

The funny part was, because I had researched it online, I knew what the price parameters were. They started out much higher than anything that they advertised. When I began to pause and have reservations, they started lowering the price. So by the time it was over, it had come down percentage-wise a bit. So, it was just a big game. I've thought about people that don't do any research and don't understand how the sales machine works, probably not a good thing, because they're probably paying more for it than they should.

I liked the flexibility and where I could take my car for service, that there's no end date to it, your payments are fixed for however long you wanna maintain the plan. And I can cancel it anytime I want to. The only thing it doesn't cover is standard maintenance. I bought a used car, so I was looking for something that was all-inclusive. So if I keep it for 5 years, I keep it for 5 years. If I keep it for 10, I keep it for 10. But for right now, it fits my needs.

I found an email from CARCHEX so I gave them a call because I went online and I saw that CARCHEX was higher rated than Endurance, which I initially worked with. The representative that I talked to pointed out something very important, which is the limit of liability. I wasn't aware of that. My car is a 2011 BMW and it's a beautiful car. It's not new and it's only gonna go lower over time. The limit of liability to the value of the car renders the policy useless. By the end of the policy, you would have paid more money for the policy than what the car is worth. If you're gonna cover me for $5,000 and charge me $600 for the policy upfront, this is a scam. CARCHEX offered a $15,000 limit of liability, which is more than enough to fix whatever happened with the car. Even if it's something with the engine, the warranty still covers it.

The rep I spoke with was perfect. He was very clear about what he was explaining. I reached out to him a couple of times on the call and he always answered. He was very informative and very respectful. I really liked the experience. The only thing with CARCHEX was I didn't get an email with my policy. Endurance sent me an email with the booklet type of thing. With CARCHEX, I got an email with a separate contract and the representative told me that I would be getting the actual policy in the mail. It's no big deal but I would have liked to get the actual policy.

I had purchased the platinum package for my Audi. After about 4 months after having my plan, my check engine came on and took it to one of the only places in this city that fixes European cars. It ended up being the factory turbo had went bad and needed replaced. This is a standard part for my car to have a turbo for the engine to run properly. I have been trying to contact Carchex several times to get reimbursed for this cost, but cannot get any help or response!

I paid over $5000 out of pocket for a part that was covered by my contract with Carchex! They are so eager to help you get a new customer and even asked specifically if certain parts would be covered, ie, transmission, turbo, engine, etc... was told, "Yes, that is all covered!" Now that I'm trying to get paid for it, cannot get anyone to help. Unbelievable how awful this company is at taking care of its customers!

I keep paying and making payment after payment and so far NOTHING the salesperson promised would be covered has been. I was never sent a "welcome package". I'm not happy, I cannot access my coverage online and after reviewing recording of conversation with the salesman, I feel like I've been robbed. All of the things I felt were important to cover, ARE NOT!! I've paid 100s so far FOR NOTHING!! And WHAT A HASSLE! NO booklet with my plan, no "welcome package", just payment after payment. No thanks.

If the servicing goes as well as this, I'll be happy to recommend this company. Even though, as of yet, I have been unable to download the contract.

The experience I had was very misleading. If my part stops working but get a piece of rust on it I’m not covered. So meaning even if rust is not the cause of the part breakdown just because the part has a rust stain they will not fix the part. All parts rust and still work fine. It has to be a manufacturer problem in order to get the part fixed but can’t have any rust on it whatsoever. I was also told that Jordan a customer service representative didn’t have a supervisor. She also stated that Carchex makes the auto payments which is false. Be careful what you sign up for.

Still waiting on it now but hopefully this was the last call. Very frustrating experience. I ended up purchasing a 2011 Chevy Cruze but I am very reluctant to get coverage with this past experience.
