CPI Security equipment
Homeowners can protect the interior and exterior of their homes with a variety of equipment backed by CPI Security. Each equipment option gives homeowners the ability to monitor what’s going on in and around their homes. Some of CPI’s most popular security equipment includes glass-break detectors, door and window sensors and security cameras.
- Glass-break detectors: These small devices alert homeowners when the glass in window panes breaks. Glass-break detectors are ideal for rooms with glass exterior doors or multiple windows.
- Door/window sensors: CPI Security's door and window sensors trigger an alarm when a door or window is opened. If the system isn’t armed, the sensor makes a chime sound when any door or window opens.
- Indoor cameras: These indoor, high-definition cameras with real-time audio and video help monitor activity inside the home and communicate verified emergencies to authorities. CPI's security cameras are compatible with the inTouch app and support wireless connection to a broadband router. They also feature high-quality video with fast frame rates and excellent performance, even in low lighting. Additional indoor camera options from CPI Security include the inTouch 180 camera, which offers a 180-degree field of view, two-way communication and a 6.8-megapixel camera.
- Outdoor cameras: CPI Security's outdoor video cameras have 1080p high-definition video and let homeowners view what’s going on around their homes in real time through the inTouch app. These cameras are weather-resistant and show people and objects up to 40 feet away in total darkness. However, CPI Security does not include its outdoor cameras in its free installation services.
- Doorbell cameras: With this camera’s motion sensors, digital microphone and speaker, homeowners can answer the door and speak to visitors directly through the CPI app. Homeowners can view doorstep activity in the app even if the visitor doesn’t ring the doorbell.
- inTouch SmartHubs: With the inTouch SmartHub, a homeowner can rest assured that their home has monitoring with the latest technology. The SmartHub can snap a photo when someone disarms the security system, provide a live view of the home with camera streaming, help answer the front door and disarm the CPI alarm.

It is worth shopping around and comparing CPI’s prices, contract length, and terms to what you get from another company. Read the fine print very very carefully… you won’t like what you see. Their terms border on predatory and are absolutely punishing to the customer. The product itself is high quality, no doubt, but you can very easily end up handing them thousands of dollars for nothing at all.
For example, before signing that contract, ask yourself if you are absolutely, 100% sure you will remain in the same house for the full length of that 5-year policy. CPI is not only very high priced with very long contracts, but it is also rare company that offers absolutely ZERO means of escape from its contract — even if you have a common-sense reason for terminating. Once you sign, nothing will get you out of that contract.
In my case, I ended up moving out of state. Did you know CPI only offers services in 4 states? I didn’t. Yet, even though I moved 1000 miles away from their area of service, they absolutely refused to terminate the contract. I will continue paying it every month until the end of the original term, which is years from now, PLUS the full cost of equipment which I am leaving behind. There is no escape. They will not bargain or give you a break. They can also raise the cost of your contract at will, and pass additional surcharges to you without notice or any option to terminate. The reviews on this and other sites show many cases of people being charged long after they stopped receiving the product.

On 9/30/2022, I sold my business. I had the CPI rep. come to the business, meet the new owner, and set up their account plus install some additional equipment. The rep. told me he would take care of everything. Here we are in December, and I find out CPI has been debiting my account for the alarm system at my business, that I sold in September. The company stated they can only refund the December debited amount. It sounds to me like CPI has been double-dipping or the rep was incompetent. I have requested all of my money back by Jan or I will cancel their service in my home.

Go with literally anything other than CPI Security. Equipment didn't work from pretty much the get go. Multiple trips out to fix only to tell me all was fine when it wasn't. Went up the chain and spoke to a manager who promised to get everything resolved, they didn't. They love their long term contracts, but have no interest in up their end of those contracts. Meaning, making their systems work.
Actually had one occasion where the alarm went off at 3 am (not because of an intruder, because of a faulty door sensor) and the CPI person asked for my password, I couldn't remember it being 3am and all. She shut the system off anyway. Yikes! Guess if you're an intruder, just simply say you don't remember the password and you're good to go. Purchase literally any other system. Don't make the mistake I made.

My wireless cameras do not work if there is a power outage of any length of time. Recently the power went out for a minute. Everything cycled back on in the house except the cameras. I was told they would. Not anywhere in their advertising does it say you must reboot your system. I bought into this as I travel and needed peace of mind my cameras would work. How am I to reboot my system if I’m home for a month?

Had the utmost respect for CPI prior to this year. That said, several months ago I was present at an associate's residence while one of their Techs were installing additional equipment. Associate was on a month-to-month contract for approximately 3 yrs at the time. The additional equipment was added with the option to pay in full at any time and the month-to-month contract was still in force. Immediately afterwards CPI forwarded a contract to be signed via DocuSign which was never signed by my associate. Now CPI is subtly trying to enforce a bogus contract that was never even signed/accepted. They're also sending harassing emails/phone calls.
The bogus/alleged contract sent by CPI is verifiably one sided and unconscionable on its face which is deemed unenforceable under the law and should never have been forwarded in the first place due to the initial month to month contract. In any event, CPI is still taking payments out of associate's account and refuses full payment for the additional equipment installed while threatening to report to the credit bureaus if monthly payments are not made and this should not be....

It is now May 15 and Brittney who is the only person who handles the false alarm didn't call until today who was not able to reach me out. When I call back she message the customer care saying that she'll call me back after the call she was handling. I called back after twenty minutes. Guess what! She went home! And I got so upset at Jazmin that my words that I can hear her little laugh. When I said, "I can hear you are laughing" she stop. And while I was talking she kept giggle.

Quick response for alarm. Repairs are quick when needed. Repairs were accurate and at no cost. Monitoring did not require a landline. They provided a split system for the basement and main level. The basement remained armed, while upstairs could be disarmed. Very nice feature for us.

I have cancelled the monitoring service for few months as we have no plans to go out and due to covid working from home, but I have noticed that CPI has locked my login id as well for mobile app, now I cannot access lock/unlock main door or adjust the thermostat using CPI in touch app. As I know people who have not even taken CPI monitoring service could access the CPI app in our Community whereas I paid for one year of monitoring service but when I cancelled the service now they revoke my access to login to CPI app
As I understood at time of buying this house even if don't take the CPI monitoring service one would still be able to use the CPI app as far as I see most of them do in this community as they did not take the monitoring service. This shows how CPI customer support target the customer who has cancelled the service without the contract and all investment on their equipment are wasted. Please review before you take CPI service you will be in trouble though you have not on their contract.

They have ample sales staff and limited customer support staff. Waiting 45 minutes is not acceptable when you get an immediate response through the sales team. The people of the sales team were very professional, but CPI CHOOSES to understaff customer support. FIX YOUR CALL CENTER.
