FlatRate Moving rates
To get a quote from FlatRate, submit a quick form on its website or call the company. Every move has a guaranteed flat rate, which has 99.6% accuracy, according to FlatRate. The price changes only if you adjust your inventory or change other important details of your move. Your quote is calculated based on your belongings, the distance and additional details, like if there are multiple flights of stairs.
FlatRate accepts major credit cards, cash, money orders and wire transfers. It doesn’t accept checks or Discover credit cards. The company charges customers two business days before a move.
How do I book a move with FlatRate Moving?
FlatRate Moving recommends booking at least three weeks in advance for local moves and at least four weeks in advance for long-distance and international moves. FlatRate Moving was suggested to me by someone who used them twice before and was extremely happy with them. He said, "This is the one call you need to make." I did make a call to another company but when I heard back from FlatRate and I had the quote, it just didn't make sense to keep on looking. It was just affordable and doable. They were very easy to work with.
I was moving in the same town. The crew came and they packed my stuff. They showed up early and there were twice as many people as I was told there will be. Four people were there and they worked twice as fast. It wasn't a big job. It was a small apartment. I did not have a lot of things to do. They did their job professionally. They did their job quietly and quickly too. They brought the stuff to the new location and unloaded. I have a storage unit so some of the things went down to storage and some of the things went up the stairs to my new apartment.
When we got to my new location, I listed it as a third floor walk up. Come to find out that it's actually a fourth floor because the way the building is built. It was supposed to be a change in the quote but they did not change the price. Also, they estimated that they'll use this many boxes in the original quote. They used three times the small boxes, twice as many medium boxes and maybe one or two more big box. I expected them to ask for more money for those things too. But the call never came. They were fine doing the job and leaving just the way it was.

FlatRate Moving gave a good price. I gave them the list of items. I compared them with another company, and they quoted me the lowest. But after moving, they billed me a little more that is close to what the other guy charges. The moving crew showed me that the price is a little bit higher, and I told them the price. I got the quotation. Then they talked to the manager. He said he's going to stop and come back, but he never came back. I got charged the revised price. It was around $60 more, so I didn't fight for it.
I did the move around 35 miles from my previous place to this place. So, I packed everything. The bed, the mattresses, and the TV were not packed but they boxed all my personal items like clothing. They brought the items and put them here. They estimated based on the number of boxes. Based on the inventory, they quoted me the price. The guys who came for the move are very nice people. They did a great job. The only thing is they gave me a quote, and after that, they charged me a different price. I wrote to them and they didn’t reply. Other than that, they are good. I will recommend FlatRate but will tell them to ask them to confirm the price a few times.

Scheduling the move was pretty painless. The person I spoke to was really nice at FlatRate. We went over what I had and then they gave me an estimate. The movers were great. There was one guy in charge and two other guys. They were all really nice. They were being careful with my furniture. There was an issue getting my couch into the elevator. I told them I would call the company that cuts your sofa in half, brings it up to your apartment and then stitches it back together. But the guy told me not to do that and they would get it in. He saved me 600 bucks right there. They did a really good job. I hope I don't have to move again any time soon, but if I have to, I would use them again.

The rep was very helpful in making a list, going down from start to finish, from the price break down to what is included. She also helped me with movers insurance and understanding the prices. I was staying in Brooklyn, New York and I moved over to Jersey City across the Hudson. It took me half a day and I was able to hang out with my friends in the evening. So that was sweet.
I would have finished way before my scheduled time but a big problem with that was that there were other people moving in and out of both my previous apartment and my current apartment. So we had to wait for them for the service elevators to be available. So FlatRate Moving should have an understanding of all the factors that play into the move as well as the manpower behind it in order to give a better estimate. But other than that, I had no complaints. The movers were professional and helped me out. They took care of everything and made me not have to worry about it, which I appreciated.

Halida. She was patient, professional, and kind. I was quite frazzled on trying to figure out what my moving needs were. Halida was kind, and has a calm voice. She relaxed my nerves. She contacted me a few days before my move date; to find out if I needed to change my order. She also reassured me that I was in good hands. Halida is definitely an asset to the company. She knows how to handle a customer under stress and pressure.
Mover: Elarbi, Mohamed, Ali were FANTASTIC! They came on time, packed my furniture with care, very friendly and professional, and they were FAST! Oh my goodness, I couldn’t believe how efficient and fast they were at packing my items and moving them to the truck and getting to my new location. I had no damage to my furniture or shipping boxes. Finding a moving company with caring customers service representative and movers are RARE. I was fortunate to find Flat Rate Moving and got top notch people. I wholeheartedly recommend Flat Rate Moving.

Professional Flatrate team made the move very easy. I have moved internationally a dozen times before. The initial contact at Flatrate met me at my experience level and all arrangements were swift and easy. The movers themselves were totally professional and highly efficient. The packing-up by the movers on June 3rd was very efficient and went well. Afterwards, I got no communication, no followup about my move, my items. A month later on July 6th, I emailed the person I had been communicating with to find out the status of my boxes and didn't get a response. I was ghosted for 3 emails and finally got a response July 24th about when my shipment is expected to arrive. No other details re when shipment will leave etc. It wasn't until I was contacted by the receiver of my shipment who gave me far more details such as when my shipment would be leaving NYC which was over 2 months later.
I've moved a few times internationally and this experience with FlatRate has made me anxious beyond any other move I ever made. Moving is difficult and unnerving enough and until I receive my shipment I am anxious. This lack of attention and communication is unacceptable. In addition I'm getting spam emails from storage@flatrate.com saying I owe storage fees and threatening to auction off my items. I have never asked for or taken out storage. This has been a nightmare. Thanks.

I've used FlatRate Moving for my last six moves. Everything went great. They worked with me when I changed inventory a couple of times because we didn't know exactly what we had in the beginning. I had to plan ahead. They were very flexible. It was a long-distance move. There were two different crews. They were both very professional and they took great care of my stuff. They were perfect. I would highly recommend them.

Everything went smoothly with FlatRate Moving. It was the cheapest quote that I received and they also gave me options for different days. My Facetime with Lawrence was wonderful. He was very informative. He had advice about moving my cats and that was sweet. The guys who helped were very friendly. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
