I am a Real Estate Broker in WA State and Hawaii. I have purchased many home buyers warranties as closing gifts for my clients. I purchased a home buyers warranty for mechanical systems in my new home in Hilo, Hawaii. I have never filed a claim until ONE MONTH AGO! I have a clog in my plumbing system in my bathroom and I am unable to use the toilet, sink or shower. It has been 31 days since my claim was filed. I have called customer service every day only to be told they 'need more time to find a vendor'. I asked for a list of vendors they have tried to contact, but they refuse to provide me with the list of plumbing companies. Then my claim was closed without any notice to me. I had to re-open my claim on October 18, 2023. It has now been another 7 days of being told the same lies.

My legally binding contract states that I a vendor will be assigned within 48 hours (max) of my claim. The Home Warranty Club is a fraudulent business. They took my money and have breached our contract by not providing me services I paid for in full on November 30, 2022. I have tried to speak with a supervisor, only to be told they don't have any way to transfer me to a supervisor. More lies. My situation is dire and I will likely end up having to hire my own plumbing contractor. I have asked for a refund of my contract, again told from customer service that they don't have the "ability" to do refunds.

I am so frustrated and feel horrible that I have purchased several of the home warranties with The Home Service Club for my Buyers as closing gifts. They will likely have the same run-around based on the dozens of horrific reviews on this platform. DO NOT PURCHASE A HOME WARRANTY FROM THE HOME SERVICE CLUB. You may as well light $500 on fire, because this company is a SCAM!

The Home Service Club is a SCAM. I signed up for the 3 year comprehensive home warranty plan after they promised me to have a tech out within 48 hours. Four of the five claims I have submitted never once had a technician out for service within 48 hours. I have had to find my own tech each time and then go on for months with them while they don’t even reimburse me for 50% of the work.

THIS company is a SCAM! Their customer service department is rude and unwilling to help. Every time they say they are working on providing a tech, a week can go by after submitting my claim and still no service has been provided to remedy the problem. They refuse to transfer me to anyone for escalating an issue with management. Also, when they say they will call at a scheduled time they don’t. Their employees will often hang up on me or refuse to help. I am a Veteran and this type of service would not have flown in the military. Again this company is a SCAM!

When I call for a tech they are able to be here within 24 hours. Once a tech was assigned to me but cancelled (the Home Service Club (HSC) never told me this) and said most techs in Washington refuse to work with HSC because they never reimburse them. See there is a problem! I would not recommend. Go with American Home Shield or anyone else. HSC is not what they advertise!

I have been working on fixing my hot water tank for the last month and a half after a month. They finally found a technician to come out to diagnose my hot water tank and their diagnosis was to replace it. They did not like that answer so they canceled that technician and put in another ticket for another one to come out..Couldn’t find one, So I had to find one myself. My technician stated that it also needed a hot water tank replacement, and they told me because of somewhat of sediment on the bottom of the hot water tank that they will not replace the hot water tank. Buyers beware.. it’s not a warranty just a ploy to take your money! They will find any reason to not pay a claim.. The last Lady to lie to me was Star and she said her name is Star..

If I could rate The Home Service Club lower than 1, I would at least rate it -1! This issue continues to be unresolved for the past three months and counting! This experience continues to be inefficient and extremely frustrating! My claim for a leaking refrigerator started on May 19, 2023; we had to disconnect our refrigerator due to the heavy leak on our kitchen floor. This issue continues to be unresolved to date. A technician BTEC Appliance was scheduled by HSC on May 23 for a visit on May 29. Technician arrived late, inspected the refrigerator, mentioned that a water valve part was needed and that he would report to HSC. The requisite $65 was paid to the technician. HSC approved the diagnosis report and BTEC technician was scheduled to return to fix the refrigerator on June 13. He never showed up.

We continuously called HSC for the solution and after many calls they eventually re-scheduled another technician Fixwell for another visit. This occurred on July 12, 2023 and technician mentioned that there were some missing parts and what was needed to be done. He was trying to submit a diagnosis report to HSC a few times but due to HSC portal issues he was unable to do so. To date, the technician has been unsuccessful in sending in the diagnosis report as the HSC portal continues not to allow him to submit the report.

This inability for the technician to submit the report continues till today. And every time we call HSC, they said that they would contact the technician; the technician has told us many times that he has reported to HSC that the portal does not allow him to submit the report. A Mobius strip of a situation! These are technicians that HSC finds for us and makes it extremely difficult for us to use the option to find a reliable technician for ourselves and get reimbursed, therefore we end up waiting and waiting for HSC to resolve the issue quickly.

My daughter and I have called HSC at least 10 times during these three months. In every call, we have to restart to explain the issue and status, when all our calls and status should have been recorded in HSC’s system for the customer rep to read. In one call my daughter put HSC and the technician of Fixwell on a joint call to explain HSC’s portal issue and inability of the technician to submit the diagnosis report – still no solution. In our calls, the HSC customer rep would repetitively state that they needed to find out from the technician what the issue was and why he could not submit the report. When we ask how we could escalate this issue beyond the HSC customer rep and supervisor, we were told that they are not allowed to give us that information.

In summary, these are the takeaways:

      1) Claim resolution is severely inadequate and frustrating and customer reps seem to read off a playbook.
      2) We have to start explaining the issue every time we follow up with a call. Same explanation from HSC and I do not think I have seen a better merry-go-round on earth.
      3) The technical issue which has been shown to HSC by the technician, including a joint call among HSC, Fixwell technician and my daughter, continues to be unresolved.
      4) I wonder if the HSC CEO buys home warranty and if so if it is from The Home Service Club. I wonder if I can get support from the HSC CEO to get this resolved. My bet is not.

      5) There is a Latin saying, “Caveat emptor”, which means Buyer Beware. Caveat emptor on HSC!

It has been an absolutely frustrating and terrible experience dealing with Home Service Club. While they do answer the phone when called, nothing helpful happens beyond that. The representatives answering may as well be robots because they all use the exact same script and follow a process that is highly inefficient and ineffective if you don’t hit the jackpot in a great technician accepting your claim bid.

We have been dealing with a broken refrigerator and submitted a claim over 3 months ago, and it still isn’t fixed. Home Service Club writes up the claim, outsources for a technician or repair company to accept the bid to come do a diagnostic job, then HSC waits for the technician to submit a report and then HSC decides from there what the best steps would be regarding repair or replacement. However we haven’t even gotten to that part of the process of any type of repairs or replacement because we keep having to circle back around and start the entire process over again (and very frustratingly have to re-explain the issue each time we call HSC).

Our first technician (BTEC) took weeks to schedule, then he came and took parts that he said he would order to replace and be back to finish the job, but he never returned! Many calls were made to get the technician to come back, but the number is now disconnected! So we start over with HSC again and they looked for a new technician, which again took weeks to schedule. Second repair guy (Fixwell) came but couldn’t do much because parts were missing from the first technician who took pieces. HSC said they needed the second guy to write a report stating this, but the technician is unable to submit any report online because the HSC portal doesn’t work properly for him to submit.

The new technician was kind and got on multiple conference calls with me and Home Service Club to figure out the portal issue but nothing ever got resolved. The Fixwell technician was willing to send it via email, or in writing and mail it in, or even asked to speak to an HSC rep on the phone to transcribe it on their end to enter into their system, but HSC will not accept any of these solutions to receive the report. So each time I’ve called (which has easily been over 20 times and countless hours spent on the phone), the HSC technicians tell me that they can’t do anything until a report is submitted! So where do we go from here?! HSC hires the technician but then the technician can’t submit a report, and then HSC tell the customer they can’t move forward! What a scam!!!

When I inquired about finding my own dependable technician to use, HSC said they can only allow for that if they don’t find their own repair company to accept the bid within 48 hours. And even then, I can only imagine what a nightmare it will be trying to get reimbursed by HSC if we do get permission to find our own repair person. So now, we are forced to start the process all over AGAIN and resubmit a claim to book yet another new repair company to come and then pray and hope they can submit a diagnostic report and we can move forward. The Home Service Club is a joke. DO NOT get your home warranty from them unless you can live with broken appliances and enjoy spending your time navigating frustrating, inefficient programs.

I have had nothing but terrible encounters with this company. Literally every single time I have called about an issue they have some system error that prevents them from pulling up my account. I had an electric issue end of 2022, they gave me the runaround so many times just trying to set up a visit. I ended up using the website to set it up and it took around a month before they could send someone out only for them to tell me it was a pre-existing issue and wouldn't fix it. To this day I still have partial power in my home since the areas affected are not used often.

I am now having issues with the a/c. It will freeze up sometimes. I can't even successfully get an appointment for someone to come out because it seems they have my account marked after calling so many times. They just say they can't pull up my account and they will redirect me to someone else in which case I'm asked to leave a callback number most times. On the lucky chance I am successfully redirected I get the same line again, can't pull up your account due to system error. How can a company have so many system errors that they can't even run their business. It all seems scripted to me to make you give up and find alternative options. I do not under any circumstances recommend this company. To a degree they are all sharks, but this company takes the cake.

This has got to be the worst business ever. Wish I would have done some research before I chose them for a home appliance warranty. I reported to them that my home ac unit wasn’t working at the end of may. It is now the end of June. I have called them twice. I get the runaround that they are trying to find a contractor in my area. They told me I could pay for it out of pocket and would be reimbursed within 30 days. Well I’m glad I decided to look at their reviews. They find every way they can to not pay your claim. I have tried to call and cancel my policy but oddly I don’t even get a ring tone when I call. It is a Sunday so I will see what happens on Monday. But either way I will be stopping payment to them immediately. Hope this helps others. Home Service Club is the worst diction I have ever made. I bought five year of service and I regret. the price is cheap but comparing to the service the gives, I very expensive. Save your time and money and run away from Home service club. They will try to find a way to say it's not covered. I bought service to the Pool equipment and also for off the ground hot spa. I called twice for the Hot SPA, even though they told me it's covered when I bought the policy, after long waiting they told me it's not covered. A few weeks later, I called about pool equipment, after long waiting, they saying "it has been determined that the push pull valve has been physically damaged and is broken, and is now in need of replacement". So, because it need replacement, they saying not cover. My advise, if you’re looking for good home warranty, stay away from Home service club.

Microwave was not working so placed a claim Mar 18, 23. Technician came out for diagnosis and said the capacitor need replacing. Three appointments and six weeks later after replacing fuse, door switch, capacitor, magnetron tube, fuses and transformer, they said that the control panel and thermal switch needed replacing and it was no longer economical to repair. After another delay Home Service Club offered me $191 in lieu of replacement and said that it was their choice as to whether to replace or offer cash settlement.

My argument that I really needed a replacement rather than a low cash amount fell on deaf ears. It will cost me more than $500.00 for purchase and to install a like quality microwave. Early in the process I suggested a replacement but was told that they needed to follow the technician's recommendations. I'm ready to cancel my contract now but will wait until I receive a check which they said could take 30 days.
