How does Lady Liberty Moving work?

To get started with Lady Liberty Moving, request an estimate for your move. Once you have your quote, you can talk to a representative to get a better understanding of the moving process and costs and decide if you wish to proceed.

If you choose to work with Lady Liberty Moving, it’s best to schedule your move as soon as possible and confirm your moving date at least 72 hours before. This gives the company time to schedule accordingly.

On the day of pickup, the movers use a checklist to ensure none of your items are lost during transport. It’s also worth noting that this process is largely the same even if you’re only moving your things into storage — Lady Liberty Moving can still have your belongings picked up at your home and delivered to a warehouse for you.

You don’t have to pay for services until after the move, and customer support is available 24/7 to assist with any problems or questions.

This is not a positive review whatsoever. Their estimate was reasonable and felt that I had properly made all arrangements for my move to another state well over 30 days in advance to ensure scheduling for closing dates would coincide. I called a several weeks later as they indicated I needed to ensure moving dates. I did so. They also assured me that by 10 days before the move, the movers would be in contact with me to verify all information and dates. A few days after the 10 days before scheduled move day had passed, I called, texted, and emailed both the estimator and the office no less than 10 times over the course of a few days to verify the move and dates. I did NOT hear one peep from them in any form. I had hard closing dates and by the fifth day before moving day I had to hire a name brand mover and they responded and came through as promised.

Meanwhile, apparently the movers that Lady Liberty (LL) contracted with contacted me the day before the move to let me know they would be at my home the next day. They also told me that LL didn’t schedule this with them three days before they called me. I told them the above story and they actually were shocked and apologetic on behalf of LL. Now, I must go after them for my deposit. In my opinion, they did NOT schedule the move until three days before the move after I pestered them in spite of my best efforts to schedule weeks in advance. How can anyone plan this any worse in spite of my best efforts for this move to be seamless? STAY AWAY from them.

Try to imagine taking your child to a place called LLM Daycare, chosen by you based on reasonable rates and a kind staff that couldn’t have been more supportive on the phone. Now imagine hugging your child and turning her over to LLM Daycare, then driving to work hoping for the best. When you pick her up at the end of the day your tear stained child is bruised, her clothes are filthy and all of her lunch money is missing. When you vent your rage LLM Daycare tells you they didn’t do anything, they are merely a brokerage that sends your kid elsewhere and that you not only agreed to it, you owe the other daycare thousands of dollars because your kid weighed more than you said she did.

Then LLM Daycare tells you your original contract has been voided because you've been subbed out to a new daycare's contract which consists of a windowless van and a bunch of child abusers that barely speak English. LLM Daycare acts shocked, says they love you and your child, but there's nothing they can do because the child abusers they set you up with are your new daycare. And that is pretty much Lady Liberty’s business model. Questions?: LLMoversHatesYouatgmail

Nightmare started at pack out. Showed up three hours late and not prepared for the move. After showing up at 8:30 PM they were not prepared. The driver came in said "we can't move you, you're not ready." What do you mean? I paid for full service. 45 minutes later they start doing some sort of packing. Using my packing materials and then charging me for them. After that was done leaving me to finish packing the smaller stuff. We left to the storage unit on a military installation. I informed them and the moving company three times I needed packers with valid ID. What did they send? A Russian without his green card, second with an expired ID (can't drive) and the third with a warrant for his arrest. That wasn't the end of the nightmare. The packers failed to put inventory stickers on my boxes, just threw everything in the truck and left. During shipping the boxes got wet and left in the heat. This company does not care for your property at all.

Now on to the delivery. They call. "We are en route. We can drop off a 9PM." Course they were late, "We can drop off at midnight." "Ummm No. You can drop off tomorrow morning." After a brief argument they showed up at a decent hour the next morning. They start to unload. Boxes are coming in, but they don't look like mine. That's right. They are unloading someone else's stuff. They repack the truck and start bringing in what's left of my stuff. Yes after all the boxes were dropped off and opened I am missing all my electronics. Not just part of it, all of it to include the table for the $1500 NAS, flat bed scanner, Blu-ray player, etc...

As of this writing I have gotten no help from them in locating the missing items. They did try and send me off to moving claim. I received this: "Dear Valued Customer, We regret to inform you that we will no longer be handling/processing your claim on behalf of your moving provider. Our service agreement with your moving provider has been terminated." Bottom line do not do business with this company. You will live to regret it.

My experience with Lady Liberty was awful. I'm talking to a lawyer about it. It was extremely stressful because I was lied to about the size of the space we'd be getting. We were told we were gonna get a full truck, but we were only given partial of the truck. The truck that showed up had six men that came out of the back of the truck. They were sleeping on a mat in the back of the truck. When they left, they went back into the back of a truck illegally. You're not supposed to haul people in moving vans like that.

It was problem after problem. One of the guys that move stuff out of the house was going into drawers of something that I told them we weren't taking. He was looking through my stuff. When I talked to customer service about it, the lady yelled at me and told me I was wrong and that I was a liar. I was pregnant at the time and it was undue stress for me. They started loading the truck then they said, "You already have all your space. That's all you paid for.” We were going back and forth, and they told me it was gonna be $7,000 more to load the rest of my stuff. I told them to just leave it. They took the wrappings off and left it on the front of my property. Not only did I have to figure out what to do with that quarter of that stuff, but I also had to pick up the trash they left. It was the worst day of my life.

They were scheduled to arrive on the 13th, and then they didn't communicate that they were going to be there on the 14th. When I called them, they said, "We'll be there the next day," and then they told me that it would be around 2:00 pm. They didn't end up getting there until 7:00 pm. So, even the window that they had told me they were going to get there, it was three hours after what they had initially said. When Dependable Van Line got there, we were quoted 2,000 extra dollars from what Lady Liberty had quoted.

When we called Lady Liberty to do the quality assurance, they said that it should be covered and they weren't willing to do anything about the differential from what quality assurance quoted versus what Dependable Van Line said when they came to pick up the items. They were very rude in terms of customer service. The lady was yelling at us and telling us we didn't have a right to be saying what we were saying. After all that, once my stuff was picked up, Lady Liberty had said that the first day of delivery was the 23rd.

I was moving up to Chicago from Florida. We had planned the drive, which was a 17-hour drive, three days, and had animals. I got here and they were communicating that the stuff hadn't even been loaded on the truck yet. It took two weeks for the stuff to get delivered. Every time I called, it kept getting delayed. They couldn't give information updated on where the delivery was, if the stuff had been loaded. They didn't seem to care about how it was affecting me as a person. Once it was loaded, there was another third-party company that contacted me and they were another day late. I couldn't get the elevator reserved because it's in a high rise.

On top of that, he charged an extra $600 because he said that the tractor-trailer wasn't going to work. He had to rent a U-Haul, which we had to pay per cubic foot in order for him to rent the U-Haul. Once he got here, all of my stuff was completely thrown in, TVs toppled over, completely disrespected my belongings, and tons of stuff was broken. He was also very rude, wasn't willing to put together the furniture that was taken apart. He said that it wasn't his job to put together the rest of the furniture. Once he left, I realized that half the furniture was missing and I had to throw it away because it was impossible to put it back together.

I created a claim because there are big items that are missing. On top of that, all of the extra charges for things that weren't even ended up still being delivered. I contacted Lady Liberty to let them know everything, that was going on. But once they put it on Dependable Van Line to get it figured out, I haven't heard from them. They said 30 to 60 days to hear back from them. It's been at least 30, probably getting close to 60. I need to follow up to see what's going on with the claim.

I didn't have a good experience with Lady Liberty Moving. They brokered me out to another moving company that picked up my things then brokered me out to another moving company that dropped off my things. The price that I was given in the beginning of the conversation when I gave them my deposit was $1,000 cheaper. I ended up paying almost two grand more than what I anticipated. I was very frustrated. By that time, I was already in a place where I couldn't go to another moving company. Otherwise, I'd lose my deposit with them. It had me in a very tough situation to where I felt like I was forced to have to continue the business transaction with them, which I did not like.

The company that came out to pick up my stuff asked me what was my availability date when I'd be able to receive my things from the moving company. I gave them my availability date and they picked up my items almost three weeks before the availability date. I was traveling from California to Georgia and once I got here and was trying to get a confirmation when they were gonna be coming, they told me that they had up to 21 days from that date to deliver my items. That was not told to me so I was very frustrated. I was here with no beds, no anything, for almost a month’s time. They said it was in the contract.

When they dropped my things off, they were supposed to give me a heads-up. But there was no heads-up. An hour before, I got a message saying they were 15 minutes away from my place. I had to give them $2,000 but they don't take Zelle. It had to be a cashier's check or cash, so I was running crazy trying to get to a bank to get the money out because they were calling me at 4:30 and banks close at 5:00.

Upon me receiving my things, some of my stuff didn't even come. They don't know this part ‘cause I didn't call them ‘cause I don't even wanna deal with them anymore. This is partially my fault because I should have read the contract in detail all the way down. But I didn't get the opportunity to do that 'cause they were so pressing me to return the contract and sign it. It was, “If you don't send it in the next hour or two, we may not be able to honor the price that we gave you,” type of thing. What I did was just skim through it, trying to get it over to them. That way, they could honor that price, which they didn't end up honoring anyway at the end. It was a terrible experience from beginning to end. I don't like the way Lady Liberty Moving does business. It's shady and they know what they're doing. I would never go with them again.

I had contracted with Lady Liberty for a move and had paid my initial deposit of 2,000 dollars. I called back to update my inventory. They increased my estimate, by nearly $5,000. In total, I had paid over 3,000 in a deposit. They told me that they were gonna be here on June 28th and 29th to move me. A few days before that, they called and said they'd be here on the 29th from 12:00 to 2:00. Then they called me at 11 o'clock on the 29th, an hour before they were supposed to be there, and told me that they couldn't be there ‘cause they hadn't dropped off what was in their truck, that they could be there on the 30th. The new owner took possession of my house on the 30th. I said, “Absolutely, has to be done in the morning.” They said, absolutely, they’d be there.

I was waiting at the house on the 30th. They called me at 10:00 a.m. and said that they were 600 miles away with a broken-down truck and that they wouldn't be there today, that they could come on the 1st. I said, “That won't work ‘cause I can't be in the house on the 1st.” She kept telling me, “We can be there on the 1st.” I said, “That's not an option.” I asked if I could get a refund. She said none of that was refundable. I told her, "I'm just gonna have to complain to whoever I can complain to and write a negative review on Better Business Bureau.” She got indignant and upset and said that it was out of their control and how could I give them a bad review. I said, “I have no other recourse here. You won’t give me any of my money back. Now, I have to turn around and pay somebody else last minute to do what I paid you to do already.”

I ended up having to pay a local group of movers to hurry up and get my stuff out of the house and put it in a U-Haul storage unit. Really unhappy with Lady Liberty. I was also not aware that they were acting as a broker and not as the actual moving company until I got a call from the actual movers, Grand American Movers, who I googled, and it said they're permanently closed. I feel like I got scammed. It was so upsetting.

Find a moving company and not a moving broker. Lady Liberty doesn't move anything. They're just a brokerage system so they terribly underestimated how much space we needed which cost me. thousands more. I had to hire an additional moving company to help me. Also, the people Lady Liberty hired used tape instead of wrap around the drawers of my wooden antique furniture. So it ruined the surface of some of them.

Thank you for the feedback, Ash. We do work with a network of carriers that can service almost every customer that contact us. It is common for a lot of companies to have a different carrier execute a move while the company still facilitates the process. Our highly qualified sale reps estimate the move cost based on items that customers enclose. You had the initial quote made with us and then the Quality Assurance team contacted you for potential updates for the items list. On the move day the frontmen that are physically there can price the load the correct way. We did use one of our trusted carriers but we understand that issues happen and items could be damaged. That is why our carrier has a claims department where you can file a claim with a description for all the damaged items. Do no hesitate to call us if you need any further assistance with the case.

Lady Liberty itself is wonderful, but the companies that they work with are horrific. With my recent move, the first time the crew came, they brought us someone else's stuff. They swore that it was our stuff. I said, “No. The ticket numbers don't match. This is not our stuff.” They fought with me about it. They kept promising that they would bring my stuff that next day. It took them a week and a half to bring me my stuff. I was calling every 30 minutes in order to make sure my stuff was brought because they kept promising.

Most of my antiques were destroyed. I have yet to file the insurance claim with them just ‘cause I've had to tear down the ceilings, the walls, the floors and redo all the subflooring and the structure. The people who moved my stuff were always saying, “We've never had complaints.” But we had an antique Victorian foot pedal sewing machine and table that was in perfect condition. They literally snapped the whole plate of iron in half. It’s unfixable. They damaged a lot of our tables. They damaged my curio cabinet, which is a family heirloom. There are some boxes that are missing. There was mysterious red flaky oil all over so many of my things. It went into the bottles of my super expensive face care stuff that I saved up for to get. I had to throw them all away. It destroyed so many boxes.

There were so many boxes that I don't know how they crushed them ‘cause they were full of solid things and packed completely so they wouldn't crush. They also stored my piano sideways. They brought me someone else's office chair. We have a $400 office chair, ‘cause my husband works at home and that's still missing. We never got it. We got some weird mod plastic sit-down chair and we were like, “That's not ours. Bring it back.”

It also ended up being double what Lady Liberty quoted. It was $15,000 as opposed to $7,400. They assured me that it wouldn't go too much higher because I provided them with the measurements of everything and the exact calculations. They said, “It'll be this much.” But it was double the space. If we had averaged that space beforehand, it would have been way cheaper. But because it was on the spot, it was $15,000 to move our stuff.

Also, the paperwork that we signed to receive our stuff, Lady Liberty said that they couldn't give us a copy of it. Lady Liberty is attentive when something is wrong, but they're really good at sugarcoating everything as opposed to getting it. They were responsive and they did change things when I asked them to change them. They were proactive and said, “We'll help you with the insurance with this and that.” As long as they were open, I was able to get ahold of somebody, whereas the other brokerages wouldn't answer their phone once they discovered it was me that was calling.

Their customer service was excellent. I like the way they work with you, the way they speak with you about your concerns and they listen. They try to help you after the fact and during the fact if you're concerned. I appreciate that. But they were not accurate. It cost us so much more money and so much more damage. I would not recommend them as a brokerage to work with for moving.
