BEWARE! This company does not have its own trucks or crew. Does not even deserve one star. Wish I knew that before I booked with them. Scheduled my move two months in advance. The day before my scheduled packing and loading I called National Van Lines to find out when my crew was coming and they did not have anyone lined up for me. It took them four days to scrounge up three men and two U-Haul trucks. These three men did not work for any reputable moving company I might add. I am now three days behind on my move. My family and I had to purchase boxes and packing paper to pack my own belongings. This was supposed to be a complete pack, load and move contracted job. My husband and I then had to arrange additional moving crews to help with the packing and loading in order to be out on time. We have moved with other major moving lines in the past, this was the worst move ever!

Please do not book your move with this company. Very unprofessional, unorganized, uncaring and awful business I have ever worked with. Always remember, the cheapest isn't always the best. We incurred many damages to our belongings. They packed our 13,000 pound move into two (2) 20 foot U-Haul trucks. Tables were smashed, gas grill smashed, outdoor heater bent, dining room table legs gouged, fabric stained and ripped, etc. I hope I can add photos to this review. This is our life in two trucks and they had no regard whatsoever. REMINDER: do not book with National Van Lines!

I received a call the day before our cross country move date to try to get me to reschedule which at that time I made them aware that I could not. CS stated that no one accepted this load until the night before. The crew showed with no packing materials. A moving company with nothing to pack the kitchen, and artwork even after I did a video call inventorying kitchen and paintings. Cesar the leader who arrived first at 7:50am, quit and drove off at 9am and never came back. After several calls to Tiffany in CS I came up with idea myself that the two workers who were left go to Home Depot and buy materials. There was no mattress bags/covers even after I did a video call inventorying bedrooms. Other furniture was placed on the truck unprotected which I made them pull it back off, and repack.

After 8 phone calls with Tiffany in CS, Lori (her supervisor) made me aware that this case had not been escalated. Even after the leader walked off the job, and with a crew too small to do the job, and no packing materials. So all the phone calls to Tiffany saying they were escalating to Operations was not true. Several items were loaded with insufficient protection. Shrink wrapping alone does not protect furniture from a long distance move. When workers shrink wrap their hands go right through when they carry the items leaving them open to dirt and insects etc… (I have pictures that were taken inside the truck to verify.)

Lori, (CS supervisor) said that they would take the truck to their Broadview office to “re-pack” properly things that had been improperly pack. Several items were left behind because there was insufficient packing materials and boxes. Coffee maker, knife set, teapot, cookware etc… Paintings were put between mattresses instead of being boxed and protected. It took a 2 person crew 13hrs which put us a day behind on our relocation plans. I wanted to deal with National Van Lines exclusively. When 3rd or 4th parties are brought in this is what happens.

First of all, the price structure was weird. I had to make three different payments. The last one had to be in cash. When I called the office to confirm that it had to be in cash, I was told I could pay "any way I wanted" but the people who showed up insisted that I had to have cash. When I informed them I'd have to go get it, (which I did) the man in charge just kept going on about why he had to have cash. Apparently, National Van Lines just contracts with these people. I also paid for help in packing. They left parts of things lying on the floor, and didn't wrap or pack electronics properly. Several items were broken or disabled. My things were moved to a storage spot, and I'm still discovering fragile items just thrown in a box every which way. I have low vision, and missed much of it earlier.

Another weird thing is that they can never give you a firm moving date, and I ended up having to move a day early. I would have turned them away, but I had to get my things moved and felt like I was being blackmailed. Then at the end they informed me at the last minute that I also had to pay an "elevator fee" because my storage space was on the third floor. This had never been mentioned to me prior. I was already moving under stressful circumstances. National Van Lines made it worse. If you care about your things, do NOT use this service. My rollmop desk no longer rolls. My projector screen that is supposed to be flat on the floor was left in storage space stood on one end and leaning against my chaise lounge. Maybe some of the movers they contract with are better, but I have no trust in these people at all.

I am an 85-year-old woman who moved across country from Oregon to Georgia to live closer to my daughter so she could help take care of me. National promised my belongings would be delivered safely and on time. That promise was not kept. I waited for six days past the contract deadline, on borrowed lawn furniture, for my belongings to arrive. When the van finally showed up, I discovered much of my furniture, most of which was under six months old, heavily damaged. One furniture item wasn't even on the truck.

One of the movers was in such a hurry to leave, he ripped the fabric of my couch right before my eyes and didn't utter a word. The movers didn't set my bed up correctly before leaving, and the driver told me he spent two days enjoying himself in Las Vegas while on the way to Georgia. I filed a claim report for nearly $3,000 for the damaged furniture, and National sent me a check for $216 to cover the entire claim. They also deducted $300 for the late arrival. The cost of the move was over $12,000. I filed a claim dispute for the damage, was repeatedly told it was being handled, and six weeks later was finally informed the original claim coverage of $216 was the most I would be offered. I strongly advise against hiring National Van Lines for a move.

NVL recently moved us from NC to VA. The total short move cost me $4,770.91, which included $410.00 for insurance which carried a $500 deductible. Didn't understand why I had to pay such a high deductible, when I never had to pay this with any other moving company I previously used, and trust me, we moved a lot. Unfortunately one of my night stands that made it from Texas to NC undamaged with Evolution Movers, couldn't make it from NC to VA without NVL damaging my $830 (before taxes), Night Stand. When I put in a claim for my damaged Night Stand, NVL sent me a check for $329.99. From the $830 (the cost of my night stand before taxes), they deducted $500.01, and sent me a check for $329.99.

You figure this scam out. We paid $410 for their insurance, they damaged my $830 night stand, and all I got out of it was $329.99. I am not understanding how NVL is allowed to rob people like this and get away with it. The insurance cost me more than they paid me for the damage to my night stand. Stay far away from this company as possible and don't ever purchase their insurance, because it's a scam. I did better taking my chances with no insurance, because I paid them more than I got back. In other words, I paid NVL $410 to damage my furniture and they compensated me a whopping $329.00.

A nightmare experience. They were the most expensive quote I received and unfortunately I did NOT receive the service I was promised. The driver was extremely unprofessional with several hours of delays on both pick-up and delivery dates with ZERO communication. The movers caused close to $1000 in damage to my furniture after they had me pay for full-coverage insurance and now refuse to take responsibility for the damage. I pointed out the damage to the mover and the driver immediately who apologized for the partner mover not being careful taking the items out of the truck.

The driver told me I would have to call National Van Lines’ customer service line to file a claim. These people are only focused on creative excuses to avoid paying out claims. The worst kind of scam company. I am out $300+ for insurance on top of the near $1000 in damaged furniture I need to replace. I have moved SEVERAL times and have never had such a horrible experience!

Called National Van Lines to get quote - got a quote - asked for video inventory. We set up date/time and I tell ** in Ocala I could not do 9 am time. He changes time - I am sent confirmation and reminder for time/date. I sign on and waited 45 mins for NVL (John) to sign in which he never did. I hung up. Very unprofessional- no call back or text. I texted him - no response. I will not use this company.

The movers were extremely careful in handling our antique furniture and ornaments. They had their own packing materials and boxes so all of the items were safely transported to the designated location and even labelled with tags - very thoughtful. I had my concerns, I admit, but luckily it all went smoothly - from packing and loading to transporting and unloading, everything was done in a professional and efficient manner. Thank you for your diligent job and considerate attitude.
