NVP Warranty works with dealers around the country to provide extended service contracts for vehicles. These contracts offer coverage for most of your vehicle's mechanical and electrical components and provide extended protection beyond the manufacturer's warranty. Some plans have optional coverages, such as wear and tear coverage, business use, Lyft and Uber use and unlimited miles.

Unlike some extended warranty companies, NVP Warranty doesn't have a list of authorized repair shops. You can take your car to any repair shop in the U.S. or Canada for covered repairs, giving you more freedom when fixing your car. Additionally, NVP Warranty doesn't have a waiting period, so your coverage begins as soon as your payment is accepted.

NVP Warranty has five coverage plans: Powertrain, 3 Star, 4 Star, 5 Star and Exclusionary. The Exclusionary level has two additional options, Exclusionary Plus and Exclusionary Wrap. Each plan comes with 24/7 roadside assistance and rental car reimbursement.

• Powertrain: The company’s most basic service contract agreement covers parts like the engine, transmission, drive axles and four-wheel drive. You can't add optional coverage to this plan.
• 3 Star: In addition to the powertrain, this plan covers the brakes, air conditioning system, cooling system and several electrical components. Some steering and suspension parts are also covered.
• 4 Star: This coverage level adds the fuel system and sensors to the list of covered items. It also includes fluids, Freon and diagnostics. You can pay an additional cost to cover wear and tear, business use, lift kits and more.
• 5 Star: This plan's trip interruption benefits are ideal for drivers who travel frequently. It also includes a sensor package that covers the camshaft position sensor, fuel injection sensor, knock sensor and various other sensors.
• Exclusionary: This high-end plan covers all mechanical and electrical components except those listed as exclusions.
  • Exclusionary Plus: For a used car with up to 150,000 miles, this coverage offers Exclusionary coverage for the first part of the contract; then it switches to the Powertrain plan for an additional 24 months or 24,000 miles — whichever happens first.
  • Exclusionary Wrap: Designed to wrap around your original factory warranty, this plan covers additional parts and systems your other coverage may miss.

NVP Warranty doesn’t sell directly to consumers. Instead, the company works with dealerships to provide additional coverage when you purchase your vehicle, so pricing isn’t available on the company’s website.

However, as with other extended warranty providers, the cost varies based on the age of your vehicle, its make and model, and how many miles it has. The company charges more for vehicles with a diesel engine, a turbo or supercharger, dual wheels, hybrids, and other unique situations.

Discounts

When you purchase a Powertrain, 3 Star, 4 Star or 5 Star plan from NVP Warranty, only items listed on your contract agreement are covered. However, the Exclusionary Plan covers everything except items listed specifically as exclusions. Items that aren’t covered include:

• All maintenance-related items, such as lightbulbs and spark plugs
• System restraint sensors
• Air bags
• Exhaust system components
• GPS or navigation systems
• Satellite communication systems like OnStar
• Damage due to neglect
• Damage due to racing
• Earthquakes, flooding or other “acts of God”
• Damage from a collision

After you purchase an extended service agreement from NVP Warranty, the company sends you a contract specifying the exact coverage details. You can refer back to it if you have questions about what is or isn't covered.

The contract contains basic information about your vehicle, your coverage start date, which plan you have and how long your coverage lasts. You’ll also see your deductible, which will vary depending on your plan. Your contract also spells out what components are covered or excluded based on your plan and provides information about the roadside assistance program.

The contract concludes with all the legal language explaining your rights and responsibilities — for example, you’re expected to have regular vehicle maintenance checks, and the plan administrator reserves the right to request proof that you’ve completed these items.
