    SmartGAP plans

Smart AutoCare’s SmartGAP plans can help maintain the value of your vehicle with additional coverage. You have to purchase this coverage when you buy the original warranty, however.

    • True Gap: This coverage pays the difference between the loan value and the insurance company’s settlement in the event of a total loss. It’ll also pay $1,000 toward your deductible.
    • Total Loss Protection: This adds coverage to True Gap and gives drivers a down-payment credit of up to $5,000 toward the purchase or lease of a new vehicle at the original selling dealership.

Ancillary coverage options from Smart AutoCare include the following:

    • Lease-end protection
    • Paint and interior
    • Paintless dent repair
    • Key replacement
    • Road hazard
    • Tire and rim
    • Windshield appearance protection

    Smart AutoCare Warranty cost

Smart AutoCare Warranty doesn't provide prices on its site, but you can typically expect to pay about $2,500 total for an extended warranty on a vehicle. The cost of an extended warranty depends on your vehicle’s model, age and mileage, plus your physical location.

Usually, the older and more driven the vehicle is, the more expensive the warranty will be. Some companies may split the payment over a few months or years or have the dealership bundle it with the vehicle purchase.

    Discounts

Never be afraid to ask for discounts. Some car warranty companies offer discounts for senior citizens or military service members. Some also offer discounts for signing up for multiple years or for multiple vehicles. Check with the company to learn more.

    Smart AutoCare Warranty claims

Smart AutoCare has an online mobile claims app you can use to submit a claim and track its progress.

All Smart AutoCare service is handled by the team’s ASE-certified claims adjusters. You can speak with a live phone rep, get payments on claims by credit card and access the status of your repairs at any time. The company says its claims are typically paid within two hours on the same day. That said, make sure to read the contract fully before you sign up for your first repair to make sure you’re set up financially.

    Claims Handling

Very lousy company. I recommend avoiding them at all costs. It's now 11-9-23, they are dragging out a claim from mid-July 2023. They insist some paperwork has not been received, however, the second time they "lost" it, registered mail was used. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.

My car was totaled 5/5 and here it is almost 3 months later and they have yet to pay off my vehicle. Always get gap through your CAR INSURER, never go with the outside company. I call, they don't answer and the line. Just drops on you. They take WEEKS to respond to my email. Now I am in customer service and my company would NEVER handle a client like this. We must reply and answer questions we're asked. Tiffani ** is my rep and she has NOT answered any of my questions I have but I send her ALL the docs she request.

      Customer ServiceClaims Handling

      Reviewed June 11, 2023

I purchased a new 2022 Kia and with that was sold a GAP insurance policy through Smart AutoCare. I lost my car while working at the hospital during Hurricane Ian just 4 months after buying my car. The hospital lost over 300 cars during that storm from employees mandated to work. Smart AutoCare has made paying out the claim IMPOSSIBLE.

I submitted every single form, news story and insurance form they requested, and every time they came back with demands for the forms to be submitted in a different format, letters from my auto insurance to be reproduced on specific letterhead. While mind you we were in an enormous natural disaster, people from all over the country were here assisting insurance companies etc. My insurance company paid $22,000 and Smart AutoCare has closed the $5,000 claim for my GAP insurance stating inactivity due to the correct forms not being submitted. While this has gone on for 9 months of endless calls, emails and not one ounce of care or help from this terrible company.

I have lost my apartment, car and now my credit is being tarnished causing further turmoil after everything we have been through. I am in utter shock of how a company can have so many terrible reviews and still be in business. How is there not a class action lawsuit against this joke of a company. I am disgusted and will not stop until this is settled.
