WayForth specializes in moving seniors out of their spaces. That's their forte, which was great for us because we have a bit of clutter. They didn't seem worried or scared about that, which was nice. Originally wanted to get the full quote for we don't do anything type of moving, and tried to get ala carte. So, we picked and chose what services we wanted to get. Did that with a few different vendors just to get an idea of what the cost would be and WayForth was willing to provide an ala carte menu. Each one of those services could be dropped or another service could be added without too much of an issue. So, that was nice for customer flexibility based on our budget. We had them come over and do the packing of all of our stuff. So, it was a full pack, and we had them load a U-Haul. It's essentially like a private vehicle. It was quite the experience. But they had a team come in.

It was an initial evaluation, and they had secondary evaluation, and they came in with packers for two days. It totaled nine hours worth of packing with a three to four-person team each day. And on the load day, they had loaders come in and spent eight and a half hours loading our truck, which was a 26-foot U-Haul truck. At the beginning, we were a little worried. We weren't sure if everything would fit on the truck and we tried to figure out what we would do if we had some overflow.

And we weren't really getting the answers that we wanted, which would mean more exact box count or what their strategy would be from your program manager at first. But reach back out, and then sort of dealing primarily with one of the lead managers there and he took over the whole case. And really, we didn't look back from there. So, any issue that we had, we were able to speak to him directly. He was able to provide solutions and explanations. No question felt like it was silly or dumb or bothersome. He took the time to answer all of our questions and also took the time to provide solutions. Even so far as showing up himself every day to do work, like physical labor, on whatever else the team needed. The team that did show up for packing and also floating, everybody was professional.

Everybody did exactly what they said that they were going to do just about. If I'm going to do a 9 out of 10, I would say everybody was scoring in a pretty good 90. The loading day was really hot, during part of that heat wave time. So, they took great care of themselves, as in like taking the breaks, taking some water breaks, and really just knocked it out. And this is where the manager came in towards the latter part of the load to make sure everything was fit. And by the end of -- it was like maybe hour and a half of working there -- he was soaked, like drenched, like he was dumped in a pool. So, he was definitely working super hard to get it done.

Towards the end of the whole experience, they had to start to settle up and figure out what the ultimate cost is. They took extra time to load some high-value items that we were worried about and walked us through the whole process. I was involved because it took two people to do. It was moving a chandelier, crystal chandelier, family heirlooms that we were very nervous about. He took his time and said, "I've done this before."

So, demonstrated expertise, did it. Got here, everything was unloaded, and we had zero breaks.Everything was labeled appropriately so we could figure out what was in the box. All in all, very good experience. When the final bill came through, it was not unexpected. Moving is very expensive and they delivered on what they said that they would do. They did a great job.

My family doesn't have a problem pointing something out if we don't like it and try to make some changes. We've tried to talk about it first. But WayForth stepped up and we're happy that there's a local office. We didn't have to contract anything out. But they did everything that we asked. And everything that they said would fit on the truck, fit on the truck. Everything was packed all the way. The packing job that they did two days, we couldn't have done it on our own. We had a lot going on and they were able to work around us and get it done.

I had an excellent experience with WayForth. I had a five-level split home and there was a lot of stuff that had accumulated in it. There were four workers and a supervisor for the first two days and they worked with the stuff very well. Also, when the move day came, someone came with a truck and a supervisor and six men, and they did an excellent job. On the final day of clear-out, WayForth had to send an extra truck and they might have had 12 guys on that day. The supervisor, Cheryl, was great and everyone was very neat, kind and professional in their manner toward me and my family who was helping me there. I would rank this situation very highly.

I was surprised at how the workers seemed very respectful and understanding. I've seen it in nurses, but I didn't expect to see the same type of behavior in other types of workers. And I like the idea of having a supervisor because the others needed that help or coordination. They needed to have someone to go to. There was someone there to tell them what we were working on first or second or third. And it just seemed to make the operation go more smoothly when they had someone with a stronger foundation as the head and then had the other workers with them. Cheryl was excellent with them and they responded to her well. She and the leader of the moving van stood there together and coordinated the whole situation, the women who came to do the packing and identify what needed to be done. Then, the movers came in and took things out.

The coordinator of the movers and the coordinator of the young women at the house seemed to work together. It's a very difficult situation. I moved but to me, it was a crisis because I had been in my community for 51 years. I had been in that particular house for 35 years and my whole life was there. But they were very respectful of everything, treated everything gently, and asked questions before they did anything about situations. And that was very helpful.

I'm shocked at what got cleared out and how quick it was. I needed very strong men and workers because I had heavy things in my basement. The workers wanted the place cleaned out because they were gonna paint the walls and sand the floors throughout. Some things had to be given away. Some things were sold. Some things were stored. Various things happened to the items. But they got it cleared out. And the workers got right in to paint and sand the floors and move the house along for sale. I couldn't have done it without them. I worked for weeks in advance, cleaning out drawers and identifying what needed to be thrown out of the house. But not enough got thrown out. So, they helped with all that.

      Reviewed July 3, 2023

I was moving my father into an independent program, and WayForth was helpful. They're known for being movers for senior situations and they should be. They were very hands-on and understanding that this could be a difficult situation and not a typical move. We have not sold my father's house yet because we didn't need to to make the move, and they said, "Let us know when you're ready." If I need help, they'll help me get an estate salesperson. They're not done with me. They'll be there to assist. Their helping with packing and setting up was very personal, and the guy that they had working with me was wonderful. He was very caring and nice.

WayForth quoted me a price, which I accepted, and it came out cheaper. That was shocking, and I don't think I have ever had a situation similar to this. There was a deposit, a payment at pickup and a payment at drop-off, and when I added everything up, it was almost $800 less than the quote. It could have been that we didn't take a lot of stuff or maybe they expected to have more packing and they didn't have to pack up dishes in the kitchen. It was mainly pictures and personal items. It wasn't a huge move, but I expected the final charge to be a lot more and it wasn't. I've done for myself a few different moves and once a place quotes you, you expect at least the quote, but the final charge could be a little higher. You always go into those kinds of things expecting, "It took a little longer than we expected. We have to charge you a little extra in labor."

WayForth is an honorable company, and I would not hesitate to use them again. I also won't hesitate to call them when I'm ready to work on the rest of the stuff at the house and put it on the market. My dad's move was amazing. In hindsight, he had me, my husband and his granddaughter and we really held my dad's hand through all this. However, I was also thinking in terms of, "Thank goodness he had us through this because this is not an easy move to make. He's 93 years old." Had it been a senior citizen in their nineties that was alone and didn't have that kind of care, WayForth is the company I would have wanted taking care of him.

WayForth had a local representative that could come out and look at my move, which was a big plus for me. It wasn't just taking a picture and then they talk a little bit about it. It was coming there looking at it, seeing what was an antique, what was fragile, and that was a big plus, too. Natalie was very experienced. She knew what she was talking about and again, that was another positive thing for the local people. I had about six items that I wanted special care. Two of them were baby grand pianos and a grandfather clock that they subbed out to Queen City Piano Movers, which I also thought was very smart, where they didn't try to move it themselves. They really had people that knew the industry, knew how to take apart the piano and take care of it, especially with the move. I was very impressed with that.

The other three items were the master bed, antique armoire and a China hutch. It was king size and it had the incline for your back and then also for your feet. So, it could go up and down. It was very heavy. The antique armoire was very big and had a lot of glass in it. The China hutch is very large. As far as the movers, I was impressed with the prep work, the packing, taking things apart, the care with putting things into the truck, even the matting that they put on my hardwood floors when walking in and out and then moving the items. I was totally impressed with the operation.

Everything took place in a day, where they came out, packed it, and then loaded it on a truck. Then the next day, I met them at my new home, which was five hours away. So, they traveled and spent overnight someplace nearby. In fact, this WayForth even had their local people help offload the truck, where Queen City Movers are from Charlotte. So, that helped where they also had additional help to bring the items in and set them up.

The WayForth guys did their work, they kinda split up into groups prepping the work, and then all worked together to make the move. I was very impressed. They did a great job of cleaning up. I realized that if everything had this detail with my move, it would have been a very expensive move, but what they did was exceptional. I've been pleased with our move, how we've been kind of trying to be economic goal with the moves, and overall, that worked out, other than can no longer get a lift gate with a rental truck. That's been the big deterrent for some of those things.

      Reviewed April 10, 2023

WayForth was so wonderful. They were recommended by the senior living facility where my mother is and where she was going to be moved. My mother was moving from independent living to assisted living and she's not entirely well, both physically and mentally. My sisters and I all live out of town. So, we had to coordinate from a distance, but they were very helpful. Brandi was willing to meet with me on a Saturday, which was lovely. We went through and she got the lay of the land to figure out how much stuff was there, how heavy it would be, how much of it was fragile, and all the things that movers internalize when they look at and price out a job.

We then had to figure out what was going to fit in her smaller space. So, after Brandi came and looked at that, we did some measuring and said, “Okay, here are the things that are going to be moved, but I'm not sure where everything else is gonna go. And I don't know how to handle that.” She said, “Well, you know, what we could do is an extraction, where basically, we take out the things that are going to be moved to the apartment and just extract it like you would choose and then leave the rest of it there." I said, “Oh, God, that is so great. Because otherwise, there's no way I'm gonna be able to figure out where everything else is gonna go.” So, she gave me a really good solution for sort of breaking down and phasing the move so that my brain didn't explode. She gave us a quote.

We met with the moving crew on the day of the move. My sisters and I divided up. They were on the sending end and I was down on the receiving end. So, I did not see them when they packed up, but I saw them as they brought down and moved things in. My sisters were happy with the whole thing. On my end, everything was great. They were very careful. They knew what they were doing in terms of how they would wrap it. They have these big things like big rubber bands. They were making sure that things didn't scrape up against door jams. There's a mechanical bed that had to be taken apart and put back together. It's one of these things that you can press and it bends you up. They figured out all the assembly and disassembly and reassembly for that. They were able to take the stuff apart that had to come apart and put it back together on the receiving end.

My mother was being kind of difficult that day, and she was moving against her will. The movers were incredibly discreet and low-key. They read the room and said, “You know, we need to be quiet, we need to be in and out carefully, gently. You know, this is a volatile situation with the mother and we're not going to do anything to exacerbate that,” which was great. So, they were very cognizant of the psychosocial dynamics going on in the room and were great with that. I’m very happy about that whole thing.

WayForth did the extraction and then we went back, and there were a couple of items that were going to go to my sisters and me in various places. They went back. They got access. They were willing to work with the facility to get access so that I didn't have to come back up, but I sent them photographs and said, “Pick up these three things and this is where they're going.” They're still holding two things right now because they're single items that are going out to the Midwest, and Brandi is working really hard to try to get me the best deal she can because it's expensive when you only ship one thing and it's outside of the service area. It's been kind of a crazy thing, but they made everything really easy. They did a great job. I can't say enough good things about them. They were really remarkable.

Whatever our schedule was, Wayforth worked with us. They graciously accepted doing the move without any questions. The girl that came out was perfect. She did a cost assessment for us and gave it to us. We even asked if we could get some boxes and she said yes. She went over, got some boxes and brought them to us. She did everything we could ask for.

I was a little apprehensive because I'd never heard of WayForth. Their truck broke down and were about three hours late getting here. That wasn't the problem because we were only moving across the street. It concerned me because I didn't know if they were gonna be able to make it on time. I had a cleaner scheduled to come out the next morning after they got the furniture out. But they were here, and it took them four hours altogether.

They did a wonderful job. They carried the stuff with my furniture across the street to the house without having to load the truck. I told the head guy that he could back the truck up right to the garage to make it easier for them to load the truck but they did everything by hand. That was amazing. If it turns out that we have to move again, I would go straight to WayForth. They had the lowest bid by far and as it turned out, we were charged even less than that for the final bid. I couldn't have asked for better service. They could do a better job advertising though.

Wayforth moved me from Lake Wylie, South Carolina to Columbus, North Carolina. They did an excellent job on that move. So I called them again to move me to Indiana. A gentleman came from Concord, North Carolina to Columbus, looked at what I had to move, and that day, gave me an estimate of what the cost would be, said he would go back to the office and give me a firm estimate. Then he called me the following day. This move was little over 700 miles so Wayforth's quote was in line perfectly.

Two people came to my door at about 9:30 on the day that they told me they would be there and started packing. I told them that I see no reason for me to stay there. I just would probably be in their way. So I told them that as soon as I got the last of the things in my own vehicle, I'd probably be leaving. I did that in about 10:10 and I started driving from Columbus to Crown Point, Indiana. They used a heck of a lot of packing material to pack me and the result of that was that everything arrived at the destination in very good shape. Nothing at all was broken. It was prearranged that they would make the move and the delivery on the 30th of the month. They gave me that time in between to get where I was going to receive the property. It worked out just fine. When two gentlemen came to unload the truck, I just showed them where things went in the home, and they put it where I asked them to put it. It worked very fine too.

The contact with WayForth was very accommodating and pleasant to deal with. We were in a hurry and they were very informative about availability and helping me figure out the dates. I was asking what we could do so that the cost would be less than the estimate. The main thing was we could do a lot of the packing ourselves. For anything that we packed, we had to unpack them. They made it clear that if anything broke, it wasn't their responsibility. My mom had a piano to move and they had movers that would do that. They didn't have to handle that separately. They guaranteed that they would cover anything if anything broke. I was very pleased with the moving process.

However, they're expensive and I had sticker shock at the cost. There was one thing I didn't notice about the actual versus the estimate and that was the number of people. I didn't pay a lot of attention to that and to the fact that you're charged for travel time. They didn't say what the travel time would be. I have a certain cost estimate based on the certain amount of time over two days. The lady did a conservative estimate. But the actual cost and the time involved, even though we did all that packing, was more and the invoice was slightly more than the estimate. That is where I had some disappointment. They offered me a 10% discount of the final bill, not the total bill. There was a 5% overall discount because I had already paid about half of it upfront. A little bit better communication about how much their service is gonna cost or a better estimate would be good. But I would still recommend them based on the type of move we were doing. It was excellent service.
